A lot of people are going to go through hell trying experimental drugs that'll never see commercial release. Drug companies won't need to get them approved by the FDA as long as they call them experimental.

Gonna be a real gooseberry fool show.

That's a good point.

Would I let the hospital zap me with a new and unknown radiation if they said there was a 10% chance of becoming an immortal superbeing with godlike powers or a slow (I was going to add painful but I'm going to demand a strawberry floating truckload of painkillers anyway) death.
10% is pretty low but I like the sound of being called Godlike even if all I ended up doing is prancing about on the beach looking super cool all day and eating ice cream. strawberry float being a super hero that sounds like a lot of hard work and would most likely need loads of forms to fill in as well.

I think I'd go for it :shifty: :shifty: .

Don't worry I'd only use my powers for good (unless someone said something nasty about Star Trek or Dungeons and Dragons as those strawberry floaters are going down hard) and would make sure to always wear a shirt advertising this place when doing any godlike stuff.

May viewership average, cable news (prime time)

Fox News: 2,381,000
MSNBC: 1,384,000
CNN: 835,000

Coupled with the popularity of talk radio, many Americans sure do love their right wing entertainment.

Fox News barely counts as a news channel.
I used to watch it now and then when I had Sky and it was mostly opinion shows and the news they did bother with was so US centred it's unsurprising that many Americans are so uninformed about the rest of the world.
Stuff that was headlining on the BBC news wasn't even mentioned because it didn't happen in the US.

BBC News wrote:US tariffs: Steel and aluminium levies slapped on key allies

The US is to impose tariffs on steel and aluminium imports from allies in Europe and North America.

The US said a 25% tax on steel and 10% tax on aluminium from the EU, Mexico and Canada will start at midnight.

The move immediately triggered vows of retaliation from Mexico and the EU, which called the tariffs "protectionism, pure and simple".

The UK said it was "deeply disappointed" by the US decision, which followed weeks of negotiations.

EU trade commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom said it was a "bad day for world trade", while European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker said the move was "totally unacceptable.

The EU had "no choice" but to bring a case before the World Trade Organization and impose duties on US imports, he added.

Europe had previously outlined a list of items, including US bourbon, cranberries and jeans as potential targets for retaliation.

How did this start?

President Trump announced plans for tariffs on foreign steel and aluminium in March, justifying them on national security grounds.

He has argued that global oversupply of steel and aluminium, driven by China, threatens US steel and aluminium producers, which are vital to the US.

Since that announcement, South Korea, Argentina, Australia and Brazil have agreed to put limits on the amount of steel and aluminium they can ship to the US in lieu of tariffs.

The US granted temporary exemptions to the EU, Canada and Mexico amid negotiations over limits. That deadline was due to expire on 1 June, having already been extended by a month.

US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross announced the sanctions from Paris, where he had been negotiating with EU leaders who were trying to avert the tariffs.

Mr Ross said talks had not made enough progress to warrant a further reprieve either for Europe or for Canada and Mexico, which are in negotiations with the US over the region's free trade agreement.

Mr Trump has the authority to lift the sanctions or alter them at any time, he added.

"We continue to be quite willing and indeed eager to have discussions with all those parties," Mr Ross said.

How has business reacted?

Ben Digby, of UK business lobby group the CBI, called the tariffs "deeply concerning" but urged the parties to be cautious, given the potential costs of a trade war.

"Now is not the time for any disproportionate escalation, and we urge the EU to consider this when initiating its response," he said.

Wonder how this will play out.

Hang on has he just turned around and slapped on tarrifs on the same day he announced them? Surely you should allow a few months, to let businesses adjust to the new conditions.

He already announced them a while back... then he cancelled them.

So you know, they had a fair amount of warning...

Samantha Bee has apologized for calling Ivanka Trump a “feckless banana split” on her show “Full Frontal With Samantha Bee” on Wednesday night.

In a statement to HuffPost, Bee said: “I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night. It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.”

The apology comes after White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders singled Bee out for criticism and called the host’s language “vile and vicious.”

“The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling,” Sanders said in a statement to The Wrap.

Her disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast, and executives at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network,” the press secretary added.

In a statement to HuffPost, TBS also apologized: “Samantha Bee has taken the right action in apologizing for the vile and inappropriate language she used about Ivanka Trump last night. Those words should not have been aired. It was our mistake too, and we regret it.”

TBS, which airs “Full Frontal,” is a part of media conglomerate Turner, owned by Time Warner. The channel initially had the clip of Bee’s segment available online and has since taken it down.
