That's Trump in a nutshell...the circumstances or context don't matter, as long as he comes out feeling superior he's 'won.'

I've read more about this now and it's pretty shocking 60 to 40% basically.

She had 10% of the funding he did, limited party function support and (reportedly I can't find an actual source) was behind in the polls - but she had an more more aggressive Ant-Trump/Facist message (she wants ICE disbanded and an end to war of drugs) and was as actively pushing for socialist policies.

Should be a signal to Democratic establishment/Third Wayers that there's a better message out there.

I can't imagine the amount of gooseberry fool that would happen if a socialist ever became President of the US.

Conservatives would go strawberry floating bananas and I honestly feel mass violence would break out and there'd be calls for some states to secede. They just have this deep hatred of socialist policies and think anyone wanting anything slightly socialist is akin to the worst aspects of communism and the deaths of millions.
It's why they can openly say working for the NHS is akin to slavery.

But the conservatives would be very polite about it and allow the socialist to eat in their restaurants.

Seeing Sean Hannity go into meltdown mode about the evils of socialism and how it's the end of America as we know it would be fun.

It's hardly likely really, any left leaning democrat is going to struggle to get party backing for a presidential run. US politics is really just shades of centre to right.

They already did that with Obama, who was nowhere even close to a socialist.

The main problem with the conservative side of America (the ordinary people, not the gobs for hire) is that they don’t even understand what socialism is. They have no desire to learn either so they are always going to see it as an evil force coming to steal their bibles and guns.

I know. They seem to have this idea that wanting any social program makes you a socialist. I was called a socialist and I consider myself only slightly left leaning in that I like good social programs and think university should be free and the NHS is a good idea I also think anyone that can work should work as they pay for the decent social programs.
They have this idea that any country with decent social programs is doomed to fail and are amazed that any company can afford to hire anyone in France with crippling costs like maternity leave and decent holiday provision.
They also seem honestly more interested in company profits than they are about being treated fairly by those companies which is just plain stupid.

Those are two of the reasons that I am stunned Americans don’t riot over. Imagine only having 10 days (at best!) holiday a year or expecting a woman to go straight back to work (or having no pay at all) after giving birth. :dread:

Things like this, and the joke that is the American approach to healthcare, were some of the main reasons why I always used to think the US was not such a great place. The last few years have added a few more reasons to my list. :dread:

The lack of annual leave in the US absolutely baffles me, I'm struggling this year to do everything I want to with my 25 days.

I used to go out with an American girl. She couldn’t see the problem with having 10 days of holiday and 5 sick days a year. And she worked in a bank and so probably had it much better than a lot of American workers.

Like you I struggle with having 25 days, I’d probably kill myself with only 10. :dread:

Americans are insane people.

Trump wants America to be like the women he likes, white and bitter.
