I sincerely hope not - he'll be in his 80s next time round. Better that someone within the Democrats who shares his politics and is much younger, more attractive to the voter base comes forward. It's a shame though, Bernie was the best candidate both this year and in 2016. :(

Every person over voting age should be allowed to vote and it should be easy to do. If they all want to vote for someone I think is a strawberry floating idiot then so be it but there should not be restrictions on voting. Even people in prison should be allowed to vote as they're still citizens.

It's a simple ideology as I'm a simply guy.

It’s amazing for a country that’s the land of the free and supposed to be seen as a world leader just how ass backwards they are

At least the Trump vs. Biden circus can begin. Still think Trump will edge it.

Because its the last thing the world needs at the moment, Trump is definitely going to get it.

I think it will hang on the debates.
If Biden can show that Trump has no idea what the hell he's talking about and just answers tough questions while Trump refuses it'll hopefully prove what a terrible President he is.
I have no hope that ardent Trump fans will stop voting for him but I think swing voters can be shown what a disaster Trump's been and how he's done nothing for the average people and everything for the ultra wealthy.

Trump appeared to allude to Biden's rape allegations last night during his press briefing, in regards to why Obama hasn't apparently publicly endorsed him yet. He also called Sanders voters "great people".

Godzilla stomping on Japan would get awesome ratings but I have a feeling that the ratings wouldn't be top billing at a press conference by the Japanese Prime Minister.

I really think Biden will win. I dont see where Trump is picking up new voters anymore, because boy is he going to need them. His win was a bit fluky last time, I doubt he can repeat the numbers trick. Its easy to forget that because we are in 'worst timeline' mode, Trump is only Evens with the bookies to win a second term. It is a long way from being a foregone conclusion, and that was WITHOUT Corona.

Problem is, Corona has seen Trump hit record approval levels - I think he broke 50% a couple of weeks ago, which he's only rarely even come close to. I don't really understand how either, his handling of the situation has been an unmitigated disaster almost to the point of criminality.

In fact there's no almost about it, his handling of the Coronavirus situation has been nothing short of criminal.

Yep, it's depressing that the President can strawberry float things so royally and yet because he has Fox News screaming about how wonderful he is at every opportunity and ignoring any failings it almost doesn't matter.
How anyone who's even mildly well informed can think Trump has been doing a good job is a mystery. Trump can't even manage sympathy for the deceased or the slightest empathy with the afflicted and just demands praise for doing his job badly.

I really hope if Biden does win he immediately demands Trumps tax information and makes it public and lets the floodgates of litigation against Trump fully open. Even if nothing does stick I hope Trump is mired in legal hell for the next 2 or 3 decades and the truth about his incompetency and lack of effort are exposed.

Approval rating doesn’t necessarily directly translate into votes though, and Biden is still currently comfortably ahead of Trump nationally and in some key states.

One of the problems is going to be the campaign itself. Biden is the most underwhelming Democratic candidate for 20 years and doesn’t have any kind of easily processable inspirational aura like Obama and Clinton did. He’s not going to have a good, coherent campaign and his stance on healthcare isn’t going to do him any favours if a quarter of the workforce lose their insurance during a pandemic. While that and the sexual assault allegations may not direct voters to Trump, it may still keep them away from voting altogether, especially if coronavirus is still a threat in November.

The other main issue is the Republican Party doing its usual thing of suppressing voting rights and basically not making this a fair election, something you sometimes wonder if the DNC honestly gives as gooseberry fool about anymore. We already saw it in Milwaukee this week and there’s little to suggest it won’t be a similar scene in other areas of the country.

The good news is the Democrats only need to win Florida and one other key state, with Biden potentially winning Arizona, North Carolina, and Michigan anyway. What’s interesting is that Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, both seen as loses in 2016 that a Biden run for the presidency may have mitigated might stay Trump states.

I agree with you on just about every point, my main issue is that I don't think it'll be quite as clear cut as a lot of people - including me - thought it would be a few months ago. Biden's not a strong candidate, has a laundry list of flaws and potential scandals that the Republicans will attack mercilessly. Teflon Don seems to get away with all of the same, if not worse, things.

The issue with voting machines in Milwaukee is very indicative of the history of American voting really. It feels like there's always some form of voter suppression going on somewhere.

Same as here. Partisanship has gotten so deeply entrenched that even in a pandemic that has been handled disastrously, it has only bolstered support for the incumbent omnishambles.
