America is an incredibly selfish country and it’s going to pay the price massively for that over the next few months.

I expect to see a huge amount of civil disorder there in the next few months.

The United States Postal Service is on the verge of collapse: https://fortune.com/2020/03/30/usps-pos ... lief-bill/

It delivers about 1 million lifesaving medications each year and serves as the only delivery link to Americans living in rural areas. Working with other delivery services like UPS, the agency supports $1.7 trillion in sales and 7.3 million private sector workers year, and this year will prove essential to delivering the 2020 Census to citizens as well as any vote-by-mail initiatives. The USPS is the federal government’s most favorably viewed agency, with an approval rating of 90%.

Yet once again, the USPS is in crisis mode.

With a negative net worth of $65 billion and an additional $140 billion in unfunded liabilities, the USPS originally expected to run out of liquidity by 2021 without intervention. That has accelerated rapidly because of COVID-19. Fewer people and businesses are sending mail because of the outbreak, which could hasten the decline of the Postal Service and close its doors as early as June, officials warned.

Trump’s press conference is back inside today. Wouldn’t surprise me if Trump was pissed off at the wind yesterday messing with his precious hair and the audio.

He’s a lot more subdued today though. Maybe the severity is beginning to hit him.

Wouldn't surprise me if this NY Governor is forced by the Democrats to run for President. "Sleepy Biden" seems to have terrible memory / speech and just appears senile.

Cuomo isn't running, and he's not going to be on the ballot. Pretty sure he missed all the filing deadlines.

Trump: ‘Our wall is stopping people like never before, they’ve never seen anything like it...apart from those going around it,’

Laughed my head off.

Today’s conference is back to Trump’s Greatest Hits as he’s wheeled out the defence department for their war on cocaine and “the cartels”; and The Wall.

“Did you know I’m number 1 on Facebook?”

Anyone else seen the clip of the police in what I think is LA having to disperse a very large crowd that had gathered in the street for a toddler's 'birthday party'? The crowd appear to be almost entirely black, and it gets far enough that the police form a line and announce over a loudspeaker that they must disperse or will be arrested, less than lethal force will be used if necessary (officers appear to have beanbag guns), and that they had three minutes.

Any single person in that crowd (on both sides) pops off and it turns into a gooseberry fool storm. This won't be an isolated event either, people will be ignoring stay at home orders and gathering in informal, large groups all over the country. Hundreds of thousands of individual opportunities for someone to lose their cool.

Police weren't wearing any PPE either. We've seen the potential impact that sickness within the NHS has had on staffing levels when they're most needed. When police forces across the US start operating with 50% of the staff, trying to enforce things like this, it'll get dicey.

Race-related riots on a huge scale aren't impossible in an atmosphere like this. Especially if it's a hot summer.

It'll be amazing to see Trump say he's not to blame for anything that happens the second he's out of power even though he's spent his entire term Blaming every problem he has on Obama.

There is precedent for this, unfortunately.

While I don't think the vast majority of Americans are racist the system sure is.
The police pretty much presume guilt in most interactions and they have many more of those with people of colour. The threshold for the use of violence is extremely low and even defending yourself from being attacked by the police will be cause for arrest.

I can see why many people who interact with the police have negative opinions of them.

John Oliver did a breakdown of Trump’s favourite new “news” network, “One America News Network”.

This clip is a thing of beauty.
