That almighty American work ethic.
Who cares if they have to sacrifice a few million people if the economy is saved.
We wimpy Europeans who actually value human life and are forcing people to not go to work should be ashamed.

I love these Trump press conferences. Guaranteed laughs to be had every night. His verbiage makes you feel dumber the more you listen to it, but it’s a beautiful thing...many, many people...beautiful people...the best people...more tests, many tests, North Korea called me and said they are amazed by our testing...never before has there been so much testing, beautiful testing...our military was depleted like never before, as was everything...now we have many missiles...a beautiful building...the most beautiful buildings in the world.

And what’s even funnier is how every single person that goes to speak on the podium then pats him on the back for everything. Every idea was effectively Trump’s.

And now he’s slagging off the EU for not accepting US medical equipment. And NATO.

Trump really is like a child compared to other world leaders. He must be a nightmare to do negotiations with as he simply won't understand most of the technical stuff and the fact he refuses to read anything that isn't about him personally really doesn't help.

I honestly don't understand how anyone can look at his performances at press conferences (or most of his representatives) and come to the conclusion that he'd make a good leader. The guy can barely string a sentence together without some sort of gaff or outright lie. Trump somehow manages to make Bush look like a genius which is strawberry floating amazing.

His language and sentences are almost 100% interchangeable irrespective of subject or topic. He could be talking about anything. There’s about 50 stock Trumpisms and phrases and he repeats them ad infinitum.

He’s back to slagging off the media again, and is accusing a female reporter about writing fake news, probably because she was a bit forceful with her questioning (about opening back up again at Easter).

Holy gooseberry fool that estimate of 2.5 million people claiming unemployment was quite a bit off.

I give up on Trump to be honest, only hope this destroys his election in November.

on a side issue... the way you guys denigrate and rightly criticize Trump as an eejit, well, we feel the same about Boris. As far as world leaders go, they're both incredibly dumb and out of touch. :capnscotty:

Yep, the mythical strength of the US economy on show.
Americans can thank all the people who voted for government to get out of the way and make it possible to fire anyone for any reason at any time obviously except for management and CEO's.

Alas, Peter doesn't:

Say what you like about Boris Johnson and his policies but at least he can do a press conference and look like he might actually care about someone other than himself.
Trump has all the empathy of a serial killer.

Mostly yes but at least Boris doesn't seem to go on random rants about being super rich (I'm sure he's got a fair bit of money but he's no billionaire) or how unbelievably smart he is or forgets how to pronounce simple words.
I can't see a European leader talking about their own personal finances being treated as anything but utter scum at the moment.

Lastly we don't take insults about Boris personally in the way many Americans seem to do so about Trump. You can go ahead and call Boris a fat sack of gooseberry fool with terrible hair and most people in the UK would just say "Yeah, ok fair enough he is a bit." whereas if you said that about Trump many Americans would act as if you just admitted to ploughing their mum for 6 hours.

I didn't vote for him and don't like him much other than as a funny guest on HIGNFY I just meant he's a much better public speaker but then again a 5 year old after eating a 1kg pack of Dairy Milk is a better public speaker than Trump so it's not a high bar.

Whether you like him or loathe him, Mr. Johnson is clearly showing more empathy than Trump.

I like to think its this countries standards holding him to account TBH.

Saying that Boris is better than Trump is probably true, but it's hardly a glowing recommendation. It's like saying chopping my arm off would be better than being violently murdered.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

Boris is a useless twat, but he’s not in the same league as Trump.

It’s like comparing a bite of a dog gooseberry fool sandwich, to a lifetime of dog gooseberry fool sandwiches. You’d rather have neither and both will make you sick, but one is clearly a better option than the other.

I wonder if this story about Biden allegedly raping some woman many years ago will go anywhere.

There has to be a reason why he liked Clarence Thomas so much.

I'm literally married to an American, like, she couldn't care less what anyone from any nationality says about Trump because she hates him as much as we all do. In fact, she'd encourage myself and others to slag him off because he's a national embarrassment for her. Our own daughter (dual irish/US citizen) also actively calls him stupid from listening to the wife and I talk about him. She gets offended that people perceive most/many/all Americans to be Trump supporters.

Don't get me wrong, she has friends and family on FB that would be offended but most of them couldn't care less. She's a big fan of our Leo though and does think Boris is a stoopid but not as bad as trump.

The best thing about a pandemic is that the President gets more viewers than the Batchelor.
