I can't see anything but a second Trump term at this point. In the long term it might be a blessing. At least it means that once his 8 years are over, he can't run again. If he loses, we will have four years of whinging and disruption and then he would probably just run again.
He’s already talking about staying longer than 8 years. If he manages to regain both houses and is re-elected....
That's a worst case scenario that doesn't bear thinking about. I don't think he'll win, but with hackers from Russia, Israel etc on side, it's possible.
It doesn’t need hackers from Russia, Israel or anywhere else. Trump appeals to a lot of people and he has the advantage of being the incumbent.
I find it hard to judge his chances at the moment. We don’t know what’ll happen over the next year and we have no idea who will be the Democrat nominee.
Hopefully he’ll be kicked out and the Dems will take both houses. But we are in the darkest timeline…..
Trump appeals to his base, and his base only. He hasn't gained support over his term, only lost it. It is not at all clear whether he'll be able to win the rust belt again.
I'm addition, he isn't going to be facing an opponent as heavily demonized or consequently polarising as Clinton was. Warren's heritage issue is largely behind her (though Trump says he'll insult her some more soon), Harris hasn't had anything approaching a scandal, Biden commands strong support across Trump Land, etc.
McConnell revealed that they'll be making next year's election all about socialism, which nowadays means anything they want it to, so it'll be up to the candidates to focus fire and hit back.
