What I don't understand is how the people on Fox news are getting so upset.
Trump said something really, really racist and then doubled down on that and Fox people are upset that others are pointing out that he said something racist.

Erm, what?
So, pointing out that he's done something stupid is worse than him actually doing the stupid thing now?

Not to mention that these people tend to be constitutional absolutists, yet apparently they seem happy to deport people for exercising their freedom of speech.

They just want to say racist/sexist/hateful things while shutting down any criticism of their behaviour and anything else they don't want to hear.

Trump has just told the press “I was not happy with it - I disagree with it,” in regards to the “Send her back” chants yesterday, claiming he tried to speed up his speech when it started.

Sounds like the penny has finally dropped that he doesn't need to play to his racist base as they'll vote for him whatever.

He’s so full of gooseberry fool. He said it himself a few days before and certainly didn’t ask them to stop.

Piers Morgan called Trump’s tweets “racist” on tonight’s last ever episode of This Week. He’s also gone on a bit of a rant on the Mail website. Must be bad when even Morgan, ever the sycophant, has removed his head from Trump’s arse.

I can't see anything but a second Trump term at this point. In the long term it might be a blessing. At least it means that once his 8 years are over, he can't run again. If he loses, we will have four years of whinging and disruption and then he would probably just run again.

He’s already talking about staying longer than 8 years. If he manages to regain both houses and is re-elected....

That's a worst case scenario that doesn't bear thinking about. I don't think he'll win, but with hackers from Russia, Israel etc on side, it's possible.

It doesn’t need hackers from Russia, Israel or anywhere else. Trump appeals to a lot of people and he has the advantage of being the incumbent.

I find it hard to judge his chances at the moment. We don’t know what’ll happen over the next year and we have no idea who will be the Democrat nominee.

Hopefully he’ll be kicked out and the Dems will take both houses. But we are in the darkest timeline…..

Trump appeals to his base, and his base only. He hasn't gained support over his term, only lost it. It is not at all clear whether he'll be able to win the rust belt again.

I'm addition, he isn't going to be facing an opponent as heavily demonized or consequently polarising as Clinton was. Warren's heritage issue is largely behind her (though Trump says he'll insult her some more soon), Harris hasn't had anything approaching a scandal, Biden commands strong support across Trump Land, etc.

McConnell revealed that they'll be making next year's election all about socialism, which nowadays means anything they want it to, so it'll be up to the candidates to focus fire and hit back.

Trump has rolled back his remarks about the crowd in N.C.:

Reversing his reversal, Trump has now totally abandoned his disavowal of a racist “send her back” chant about Representative Ilhan Omar at his North Carolina rally. He previously said he was “unhappy” about the chant, but he told reporters in the Oval Office just now that he is actually “unhappy” about many other things.

“I’m unhappy with the fact that a congresswoman can hate our country. I’m unhappy with the fact that a congresswoman can say anti-Semitic things,” Trump said during an event with Apollo astronauts to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. “She’s lucky to be where she is, let me tell you. And the things that she has said are a disgrace to our country.”

He went on to say that the rally attendees are “incredible patriots.”

I'm unsure how Trump could act any more unfit for office without actually wearing a pear of pants on his head to a meeting.
Even then I'm sure his supporters could find some way to act shocked when anyone pointed out how batshit mental he is.

I never said "send them back" he says, whilst on film telling them to "go back".

I mean, I guess technically he's not wrong

Clearly a guy that's nothing but a rich turd, never having anyone call him out for being a bullshitter.

Trump makes second u-turn:

Vox.com: Trump abruptly reverses course, offers full-throated defense of racist chants.

I can't copy text from the site on my phone, sadly, but the link is there.

50 years on and we’ve barely changed, we still have people thinking people should “go home”.

And at least they had trips to the moon in 1969.

He’s obsessed with a city that has nothing to do with him.

Yep, it's pretty shocking to see a US President make such statements about a UK city.
I can just imagine what the response would be if the PM started gooseberry fool talking about a US city and mayor. Fox News would go into meltdown for a start.

He really has no mental filter or understanding about the norms of foreign relations by politicians.
