If you don't mind the shite picture quality, this is great viewing (I listen to it more than actually watch it, tbh) of the Watergate scandal. As told by the strawberry floaters who perpetrated it!

It's a such an eye-opener, as before watching this I thought getting Nixon out had been pretty straightforward  :fp: He hung in there for the longest time, even after the vote to initiate impeachment was won by a landslide. I especially recommend it to people who say Why isn't Trump out yet?, or that Nothing changes. (Guilty on both counts!) Worth watching for the G. Gordon Liddy gooseberry fool :slol: Guy was an absolute buffoon.

It's mental isn't it? I give a lecture on Watergate to second year students and there's a really famous pair of headlines from August 1974:

August 7th for the first, August 9th for the second I believe. The actual resignation came the day after the first headline.

Trump moaning like the whiny little banana split he is, this time about a guy who's been dead for months!

During his visit on Wednesday to the tank factory in Lima, Ohio, the president renewed his assault on McCain.

"I gave him the kind of funeral that he wanted, which as president I had to approve," he told workers at the factory.

"I don't care about this, I didn't get a thank you. That's OK."

Mr Trump approved the military flight of McCain's remains from Arizona to Washington, but it was Congress that accorded the late senator the honour of lying in state.

The US president said McCain "didn't get the job done for our great vets and the VA" by refusing to repeal Obamacare and attacked him for "a war in the Middle East", in reference to the senator's support for the Iraq War.

"Not my kind of guy," the president said. "But some people like him and I think that's great."

It's pretty amazing seeing the republicans say nothing about this when we know that if a anyone else started doing the same about someone they like they'd be hopping mad. They really have gone all in on Trump and all political norms are now irrelevant.

That's why Trump's doing it. It's a little power trip. He'll relish that no one will speak against him

It's the only reason I can see he'd be going back to McCain

Going by the "Tim Apple" incident Trump probably thinks McCain sold oven chips, which is an affront to his beloved McDonalds fries

After looking more into McCain, I don't like the man at all but Trump's funeral statement is abhorrent.

Megan McCain is also the dumbest pleb I've seen on TV bar....Trump himself.

McCain was not a good man, but compared to Trump he was positively saintly.

Meghan McCain is a beautiful woman, but her politics are just abysmal.

Very few Republican politicians are good people.

But most of them are strawberry floating saintly compared to the orange blob of shite that is fouling up the White House.

The problem with Trump is that underpinning everything is the idea that everything is about him.
He doesn't give a gooseberry fool about the people of the USA he only cares about how things will benefit him which is why he has zero problem slashing healthcare spending or chucking immigrants in prison for no reason. His tax cut was all about helping his friends who can then help him when he leaves office and he's quite happy to throw anyone under the bus at a moments notice however loyal they are if he feels they're no longer helping.

The guy has zero moral values and the fact that US conservatives who are supposed to be the party of old fashioned moral values is now his bitch just makes the whole situation laughable.
