This is big news. Third press secretary in less than three years. Trump’s press relations strategy has been genuinely appalling.

I think Donny wants a third term. Although his tweet reads like he thinks a term is 3 years.

It's just so telling that he honestly thinks news will stop just because he's not the President.
He thinks everything revolves about him and his supporters are happy to buy into his delusions as they climb further and further up his arse.

I'm not sure how the USA can go backwards politically faster than they are now and the next President will have to be something special to be worse than Trump.

No way would I go through the hassle and indignity of trying to step foot in America right now.

It’ll be much easier to just fly to Mexico and climb over the wall to get into America.

I don't see how anyone can seriously argue America isn't a fascist state.

The bare-faced warmongering, mass surveillance, murderous above-the-law police, cruel and abusive border guards, and literal concentration camps should all be kind of a give-away.

The way the police behave where they demand complete obedience at all times and they use any excuse to use force or point guns at people is shocking as is the fact that so many Americans support such behaviour.
Many Americans feel it's ok for the police to treat anyone like crap and any objection is seen as being hostile towards the police. Even simple traffic stops now routinely require the people involved being treated like serial killers with police going in with guns drawn even without suspicion of anything other than bog standard traffic stop stuff going on.

Maybe Americans are fine with having guns waved at them but I know I'd object vocally and most likely get myself in trouble if I'm stopped by the US police.

Because to be a fascist state they would need an egotistical leader who forms a cult of personality around themselves. They would then use that to overturn the democratic process of the country and would proclaim that their vision would last 1000 years or more.

Miami Beach Vacation Rental Owner Goes on Racist Tirade Against Black Guest from England

Monifah Brown and her friends thought they'd found the perfect place to stay during their Miami Beach vacation. The condo unit was right on Ocean Drive, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the beach. Brown, a 24-year-old from London, was thrilled to score a reservation there on Booking.com.

But things took a bizarre and virulently racist turn after Brown, who is black, took too long to respond to a message the condo's owner, Giulia Ozyesilpinar, sent her on WhatsApp. In screenshots and recordings Brown shared with New Times, Ozyesilpinar repeatedly calls Brown a monkey and a "n**ger." Ozyesilpinar also sent voice recordings saying, "You're a n**ger" and making monkey noises before asking, "You want banana?" She even posted a video on YouTube of Brown's ID next to a photo of a monkey.

Ultimately, Booking.com removed the condo from its website — but only after a friend of Brown's posted the screenshots on Twitter.

"I'm just so shocked," says 21-year-old Moesha Bennett, who planned on making the September trip with Brown. "I've never, ever, ever come across anything like this in my life... I don't think I still want to go to Miami."

In a phone conversation with New Times, Ozyesilpinar defended herself by claiming Brown insulted her first, though the screenshots don't reflect that, and Brown denies it. As the condo owner's messages to Brown spread across social media and people left Google reviews calling her racist, a person listed as the owner of Ocean Five Condo Hotel responded with the word "N**GER." Those comments had vanished by Monday afternoon, after New Times spoke with Ozyesilpinar. In an earlier comment that remained online, the owner responded to a person who accused her of racial profiling by saying, "We don't like Monkeys like you with stupid questions."

In a cliched defense of her actions, Ozyesilpinar told New Times she has black friends and is a Democrat who voted for Hillary Clinton. She claimed some of the messages were fabricated, although the screenshots show they were sent from her phone number. She also says she doesn't regret using the word "monkey," adding that "being racist is not illegal."

"We live in a free world," she says. "We have freedom of speech. If I want to call somebody a monkey, I should be able to say that."

Amazing what people think they can get away with in the age of social media and phones. Clearly don’t fear (or expect) repercussions.

Since the US are keen on prosecuting for cyber crimes outside of their borders, I wonder where the law lies in the UK in terms of hate crimes committed abroad by foreign nationals. Personally I see no reason why legal action shouldn't be taken.

San Francisco has become the first US city to ban sales of e-cigarettes until their health effects are clearer.

Officials on Tuesday voted to ban stores selling the vaporisers and made it illegal for online retailers to deliver to addresses in the city.

The Californian city is home to Juul Labs, the most popular e-cigarette producer in the US.

Juul said the move would drive smokers back to cigarettes and "create a thriving black market".

San Francisco's mayor, London Breed, has 10 days to sign off the legislation, but has indicated she will.

The law would begin to be enforced seven months from that date, although there have been reports firms could mount a legal challenge.

Anti-vaping activists say firms deliberately target young people by offering flavoured products. Not only is more scientific investigation into the health impact needed, critics say, but vaping can encourage young people to switch to cigarettes.

Juul previously said it supported cutting vaping among young people but only in conjunction with tougher measures to stop them accessing regular cigarettes.

The company's small device, just longer than a flash drive, has about 70% of the US vaping market.

San Francisco's ban would "drive former adult smokers who successfully switched to vapor products back to deadly cigarettes", said Juul spokesman Ted Kwong. It would also stop adult smokers switching and create a "thriving black market".

"We have already taken the most aggressive actions in the industry to keep our products out of the hands of those underage and are taking steps to do more."

Traditional tobacco products will "remain untouched by this legislation, even though they kill 40,000 Californians every year," he said.

Ban vaping but not cigarettes, which are the worse product, whether considerably or marginally so...I don’t get the logic.

I saw that headline earlier. It is crazy logic. E-cigs might not be great for you and they might be annoying to other people, but they are a hell of a lot better than ordinary cigarettes.

It’s like banning paracetamol while allowing people to buy heroin.
