The context of time isn't kind to him here. He wasn't young so you can't use that excuse, nor was it the 1980s or earlier - maybe even the 90s, though that was more the casual racism era - so that's out to. But at the same time he's a bit wet as my Dad used to say, so I could see him naively going along with many things.

It always amazes me how little common sense these people have.

Still, it was 18 years ago, he doesn’t do it anymore, he’s apologised and his current attitudes do not come across as racist or prejudiced.

People have to be allowed to change their views and behaviours.

I agree, my mistake was unacceptable and I should be removed from society until the heat death of the universe.

Fun, partially relevant fact: I once went to a Halloween party as BoJack Horseman. Knowing full well I'd be taking off the horsehead mask I'd gotten for the costume almost immediately, I asked my very talented wife to paint my face as BoJack too so I'd at least look like I was themed when it was off rather than a guy in a suit jacket and jumper.

So yeah. Besides a little white and pink I was essentially in full blackface. Neither of us thought anything of it until, after a few drinks I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror and my stomach just strawberry floating dropped out of my body. I immediately rushed into the bathroom and spent 20 minutes getting the strawberry floating stuff off and it's still one of the most embarrassing moments of my recent life. I spent the rest of the party apologising profusely to everyone, pretty much all of whom hadn't noticed and thought it was strawberry floating hilarious that I was so devastated.

Yeah Taf is now officially cancelled.

Although it will be amusing in 2037 when Prime Minister Taf has to explain to Parliament that he was not in blackface, he was actually dressed as a cartoon horse.

Sometimes I do muse on the idea that in the impossible fantasy scenario that I ever become even slightly known for anything, a photo of the night will emerge and I'll have to say exactly that.

Looks like he has done this at least 3 times now. Yes people have a right to change, but given the corruption allegations too, I think it's time he left office. When he became PM, I always saw him as Canada's Blair, and he has kind of lived up to that.

Edit: It's a bit disturbing to see the BBC bringing up that blackface "was more prevalent in the past". Yeah it was, but not since the 70s. This video dates from the 90s and the pictures are from the 2000s. It absolutely was not acceptable then.
