Being so good that people hate you is something I understand well.

I'm pretty sure that Trump is going to claim victory in the election even if he loses by historic margins as he'll just claim the vote was rigged or that there was mass illegal voting.
The guy just can't ever admit fault for anything.

If he loses then I can see him trying to stir up civil unrest and rioting. And he’ll almost certainly succeed.

And when the government acts against people who are rioting it'll be used as an example of government over reach.

The ironic thing is the republicans who will defend Trump when he does all that are the same guys who said Obama was going to try and hold onto power and went mental about it.

He will:

  • Deny the result, claiming hacking/vote fraud/etc.
  • Have Barr begin an investigation/conjure up phony evidence.
  • Refuse to leave office until the investigation ends (hint: it won't). This will be backed up by McConnell.
  • Engage in Stochastic Terrorism, heavily encouraging or demanding acts of violence or murder against the winning Democratic candidates, or Democrats in general.
  • Demand the winning Democratic candidates, Schiff, Schumer et al be locked up.

Tl;dr: He'll use the Russian playbook. Whether or not it works, and how normal citizens respond, isn't yet known.

If he somehow concedes, he'll probably end up trying to get the South to secede again so he can be President of the Racist States.

I like Beto, but sweet lord no. This is not how you bring the progressive wing of the party on-side.

It’s good to see that the Space Force have proper space camouflage.

I just can't take anything called "Space Force" seriously. It sounds like the kind of gooseberry fool off-brand action toy you'd find in newsagents and pound stores when you were a kid.

First two maybe, even probably, the other 3 won't happen. At least I don't see the encouragement of violence going up from its current level, which admittedly is shocking.

It's academic anyway because he won't lose.

Russia and China need him to win because the longer he remains in office, the closer the US comes to disintegrating, and the more intelligence they get on the inner workings of the US, and the GOP is only too happy to oblige.

It really is depressing that a party that only cares about the rich and huge companies has so much support from so many of the people they screw over time and time again. They don't even stick to their own policies as when it suits them while out of office they complain about the deficit and debt and as they're doing now when in office they give tax cuts to the rich which ends up exploding both.

They've somehow managed to trick huge numbers of people into thinking that giving all the money to the rich and huge companies which leaves almost strawberry float all for everyone else is somehow a splendid idea.

Trump's lawyer Dershowitz appears to be laying the groundwork to justify giving Alaska to Russia...

"Assume [Vladimir] Putin decides to ‘retake’ Alaska, the way he ‘retook’ Crimea,” Dershowitz writes on pages 26 and 27 of his book. “Assume further that a president allows him to do it, because he believed that Russia has a legitimate claim to ‘its’ original territory. That would be terrible, but would it be impeachable? Not under the text of the Constitution.”

I can't see how the surrender of US territory could be justified and the abandonment of so many US citizens would be problematic at best.
If that's the level of legal advice he's getting then erm, it's not looking good.
It does also make me wonder how Republicans will justify talking about impeaching anyone in the future if they seem to think impeachment is so impossible or unjustifiable but then again it's the republicans and they can just deny they ever mentioned any of this and their supporters will just forget it happened.

If he starts giving away territory, it will be interesting to see how the Republicans and his supporters try to justify this.

But hey, it's just a hypothetical situation.

I think his supporters and party backers would turn on him if he gave Alaska away. Although who knows.
