His insistence that everything is fine is going to really hurt him if it gets bad. Especially if it starts effecting his supporters.

It also doesn't help him that he seems completely unable to act like a normal human being by talking about the victims of the virus and seeming like he gives even a single gooseberry fool about them.
He has zero compassion or empathy and I think that will become more and more obvious in the next few weeks.

What do we think of the debate?

They both sounded better on Corna than Trump - but that ain't hard.
They both spent too much time attacking each other.
They both spent a weirdly long time talking about the past
No audience and no spin room is great

Overall conclusion - Biden needed an absolute clunker to get Bernie back in the race, and that didn't happen. Neither side did much to unite the supporters after a victory.

Bernie was a lot more aggressive than I expected. He gave Biden no less than four chances to fess up to pushing for cuts to Social Security and the like, which he didn't take, lying his way through. I fully expect to see attack ads based on that come out before long.

Biden did what he had to, and probably didn't lose any support. Likewise, Bernie probably didn't gain any support from his performance.

Biden blaming Italy's COVID-19 morass on their single-payer healthcare system rather than their initially blasé attitude toward the disease was just stupid. :fp:

Funnily enough, Biden's support of a public option for healthcare all but guarantees the M4A system he claims people don't want.

I am appreciating the brilliant irony that the US spends about half its immense budget on what it calls 'defence' but then has no public health system to protect its own people from biological threats. They're basically the Martians from War of the Worlds.

They also spend far more on healthcare per capita than any other nation.

They also spend more per capita in public money than any other nation whilst still not having universal healthcare.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I believe you because, well, it's you - but I'd love to read more about this if you've got some sources.

If he gets it and dies from it, there will be serious debate years down the line on its overall benefit to humanity.

I've viewed Chinese Virus as a geographical /geopolitical thing as opposed to an ethnicity thing. Similar to Spanish Flu or Hong Kong Flu which aren't considered racist. Wuhan Flu would be more accurate but I suspect the geopolitics overrides the geographical accuracy.

Although given the CCP shamefully covered up the existence of this for 5 weeks then a name which the Chinese Communist Party hates being used as a badge of shame doesn't bother me.

The awful experience some Asian people have lately had in the UK and across Europe (I'm assuming USA too) is terrible but I wouldn't attribute disgusting criminal acts to this.

I think the main reason for calling it that was to cause a conversation about it to try and steer all talk away from Trumps piss poor response.

The fact that Trump said the buck doesn't stop with him about this should be devastating politically but most likely won't be because the Dems and press are to polite to hammer him with it.

TYT calling for the last Primary's results to be null and void because of the Corona Virus, it's getting embarrassing.

Sigh. 4 more years of Trump it is, then.
