What's interesting is the majority of Americans (Republicans as well) support many of the policies that AOC/Sanders want to implement.

But as soon as the word "socialist" is mentioned or the names of AOC/Sanders is shown, the support evaporates.

Which shows the power of brainwashing, people will actively vote against policies they support, just because they've been terrified into rejecting any form of socialism.

The fact that so many voted against Biden because they think he is radical left is astounding. Biden!! If you found the centre and put a dot in the middle, he'd still be more centre than that.

Exit polls showed 70%+ of voters support some form of socialised healthcare, pathways to citizenship for illegal immigrants, and increased spending on green policies, so I'd say her views actually represent quite a lot of people.

And if they really are Fox news numbers, I'd not be surprised if they're lower percentages than what was actually recorded.

The only thing we can be close to certain of in this statement is without the support of that 15% of Democrats, Biden wouldn't be president-elect right now.

I don't think anyone really knows how a Sanders campaign would have gone (you might feel "free healthcare" could have resonated during a pandemic). It's not really the point, though. Leftists and progressives wanted a chance to make a case for "AOC's views" because those policies are the bare minimum to begin to mitigate the disasters of the 2030s. Radical change is the minimum. If that radical change isn't implemented pretty much immediately upon the Democrats entering office, then as happy as I am to see Trump removed, this election ultimately doesn't matter very much in the face of impending climate collapse and the rising tide of fascism.

Exit polls on election day voting would be Republican leaning too.

I've read Fox News polling is actually a decent standard, surprisingly.

Interesting. I would question why they wouldn't slant their polling, considering they put a slant on everything else.

I've been told on here for years that all Americans hate the idea of socialised healthcare and I had come to believe it.

Now I'm told that actually 72% of them favour it.

Why is GRcade such fake news? :|

They would hate socialised healthcare.

But a "government run healthcare plan"? They like that!

They've had over a century of being told "socialism is evil!" and they can't get out of that mindset. Call socialist policies something else though and they love the idea.

American voters like left-wing policies but not left-wing politicians.

And it did seem to be the case. They certainly didn't play ball with Trump's demands over the election.

Call it "All-American National Health Care", and they'll vote for it in droves.

The Democrats would do quite well to wrap any socialist policies in the flag of patriotism to get them passed. Wouldn't do them any harm anyway!
