Amazon hung anti-union signs throughout the warehouse, including inside bathroom stalls. It held mandatory meetings to convince workers why the union was a bad idea

:dread:

Shouldn't all those who want to join a union be allowed to form one anyway...? I understand an individual opting out of a union, I don't understand how a majority of workers can prevent a minority from forming one.

That's depressing.

That will yet another win for the brainwashing by US conservatives against unions.
Can't have anything that helps workers try and get better pay and conditions as it's all about that profit.

They have convinced millions of ordinary Americans to vote against their own interests.

To my shame, I've just read about this case:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shootin ... do_Castile

In some ways it is even more shocking than the George Floyd murder. Won't surprise anyone that the cop who fired the shots was acquitted.

America's police are rotten to the core.

Still, at least it'll give the MAGA twats a brain haemorrhage deciding which option to go with.

I'm actually shocked they would do that to anyone in the Army.

Anything but total compliance to the police even when they're being twats is unacceptable and allows the police to beat the gooseberry fool out of you and arrest you.

It's like they want a police state.

It was a comment in that thread that led to me discovering the murder of Philando Castile. Just what the strawberry float is going on in the US where that kind of stop is considered normal.

Imagine in the UK you're pulled over because you have licence plates that don't confirm to the regs and get treated like that. Not saying it wouldn't happen as our police aren't perfect. But at least we have the benefit of knowing we might just get a kicking, and not maced and shot to death(it has happened of course but extremely rare).

It brings me back to the early 90s and "strawberry float da police" and genuinely troubles me that things have got worse in the US and not better.

Indeed, it’s a completely different world. An increasingly strange place.

I get the feeling you just have to look at some of them the wrong way and they will draw a gun on you.

As long as the second amendment is in place cops will always assume the worst until proven otherwise.

Even with just that single picture, you have to wonder how that guy thought that situation would end.

This is why I repeatedly say it's a completely different place to here and we shouldn't judge the US by our standards.

One thing I know is I could never live there.

It's always strange that those who most support free enterprise and oppose government intervention who are most keen on passing draconian laws to prevent workers freely organising. Almost like they have no principles or something.

I think the main problem is that they've had the idea that profit is king and all that matters.
Anything that lowers profits to give to workers (oddly the CEO's are immune from this and it's great that they earn vast fortunes) is a terrible idea and will always lead to companies fleeing or going bankrupt.
They also have this odd idea that all unions are run by corrupt mob types who will force everyone into the union and demand huge fees.

The right has done a great job over the decades to scare as many people away from joining unions or just outright banning them.

It's awful. Ive seen so many videos similiar to that. The sooner they ban gun ownership in America the better.

Why? I think it's perfectly reasonable to judge them for their insane gun laws and their trigger happy police.

Do you think one is related to the other?

Of course. It doesn't excuse them treating people like gooseberry fool or them murdering unarmed people.

Look at the way they treat the army guy. It's damn clear he doesn't have a weapon and they still act like power mad banana splits.
