Problem with the Senate is Manchin is basically a Republican in disguise, which makes things difficult there.

Then a president from the same party should be able to strongarm someone who will derail their plans.

Manchin's someone managed to get routinely elected as a democrat in West Virginia which is deep Trump country. No-one else is doing that.

He's almost single handedly wrecking the Democrats' midterm prospects, I don't think it balances out.

I've done some casual reading up on the US congressional system recently and my understanding is that it is set up to essentially stop anyone from doing anything, ever.

There's nothing stopping them from rectifying this and the rigged electoral system they routinely struggle against, except themselves. At some point voters will simply get tired of being told the singular method of change is through voting if these fights are still having to be fought.

Try that and he'll switch parties, McConnell will become the Senate Majority Leader and everything will be even more strawberry floated.

Pretty much.
With the tribalism on top, it makes it pretty much impossible.
It's amazing that the party who wins the election is then forced to pander to the other side and give in just to get even small things done.

The fact that the Republicans basically have people who will vote down anything the other side wants however vital it is or well-intentioned and even if the rest of their party supports it shows why their system is totally broken.

Then you have the republicans gerrymandering districts and just flat-out baring people they don't like from voting and then crying about being oppressed when everyone points out that what they're doing is disgusting just makes the whole thing depressing.

They can't win normally as they don't have the votes so they're happy to openly cheat by voter suppression.
Passing gooseberry fool rules like it's illegal to hand someone in line a bottle of water when they are the people who made the lines so long by closing polling stations. They have places where the line to vote is 5 hours long :fp: .

Some twat game developer has posted about how he is pro life and supports the new Texas laws. Pro choice gamers are boycotting his games.

I was looking at the comments about it and saw this beauty of a conversation. I've no idea why they self censor "leftoids" and "persecuted" but that's nothing compared to the idea that Hitler would be against genocide and killing babies.

It's the "disavowed" at the end that made me laugh.

Not really much point in moderate Democrats insisting that "voting matters!" every two years when they’re pulling the same anti-democratic gooseberry fool as the fascists.

I know this is in Florida rather than New York, but hoping for a repeat of the reception he got at MSG

Holyfield as in Evander Holyfield? He's pushing 60! I question the legitimacy of the "most anticipated" claim this poster is making.

Its strawberry floating nonsense

Holyfield wasn't granted a license in California (where they're not exactly strict) so they had to relocate to FL.

I'm pretty obsessed with boxing and even I won't be turning into that. Holyfield is shot to bits- there is no way he should be anywhere near the ring. Could easily turn into a horror show.
