How many mass shootings have there been in the last few weeks? I'm going to guess that McConnell didn't respond to them in this way.

Democrats should just offer thoughts and prayers

On that subject, the documentary "4 hours at the capital" on Netflix is well worth a watch. Shocking stuff.

Honestly I just expect them to do what he asks now.

Like Ted Cruz said, all Kavanaugh has to do is lock his door.

I watched this last night. It was wild. Beating the gooseberry fool out of a cop while holding blue lives matter flags :fp:

Watching the opening statements, it feels weirdly momentous to finally be here.

Do they have the death penalty for treason? This would be the single moment throughout all time and space that I would be happy for it to be carried out :shifty:.

For the love of god I hope something happens with this. But he'll probably get off again.

It's important that he doesn't. He is basically testing the waters constantly on what he can get away with. I don't want to see where this goes.

Ivanka and Barr on video was a good start. They need to build on this.

Will it have finished by the midterms?

I think this is something that matters more to Twitter and people who will vote Democrat regardless. I think this all serves to harm Trump's potential re-election in 2024 rather than help Dems in 2022. I think the energy and momentum is with DeSantis anyway, and that he'll win the nomination. I also think DeSantis is a tougher opponent because he doesn't have the baggage of Trump and knows how to weaponise CRT fears.

Pre-Covid, this would all make sense but post-Covid, I think Dems should focus on CRT critics, the cost of living crisis, inflation and understand that the post-Trump era has likely already begun. I'm obviously not against this investigation but I don't think it will move the needle among centrist voters, as some expect.

Bidens approval rating is lower than Trumps was at the same point in time. He's strawberry floated it.

Regardless of what he had done he's still someone's father and someone's grandfather. A life jail term and a 2 century ban for him and his bloodline entering the world of politics would be enough.

Answering violence with violence and potentially martyring him is surely not the way.

I oppose the death penalty no matter how heinous the crime.

But I wouldn't exactly be upset if Trump was sitting in the electric chair.

Could we compromise and just give him a few non-lethal shocks?
