Can't do the next Eurovision if you moved though.

Sure you can, Ireland's Eurovision entry this year is a naturalised American citizen.

America doesn't have proper milk so it's a big NO from me.

What about the many states that DON'T have mental gun laws?

Don't worry they have mental laws about other things.

I was going to mention abortion here, then decided against it. Then I caught the most recent episode of Last Week Tonight where he covers what Texas lawmakers have cooked up.

It's bad.

Am I right that this kind of stuff is just playing to their base, keeping them happy and helping with fundraising as ultimately the federal courts will throw these laws out and they will never come into effect?

It's part of a concerted effort by conservative controlled states to apply pressure on the SCOTUS to review (and potentially overturn) Roe vs. Wade.

Which is exactly what the supreme court has just announced it's doing.

I've shot many rifles, shotguns and an AR15 which was called a 'toy gun' by the brother in law, as in they don't use it to hunt, just for fun. :dread:

Still, they all AT LEAST were registered guns. The AR15 had a 30 round mag and it fired which each press of the trigger, you could empty the magazine (I did into a tree) in about 10 seconds if really wanted to, all with virtually no kick back, kinda scary.

But they've been making so much money fundraising off Roe for so long, I don't think they actually intend to win.

If this new case does overturn Roe, the Democrats suddenly have a lightning rod for fundraising.

I've just finished listening to a podcast called "Bag Man". In it, Rachel Maddow tells the story of Spiro Agnew and his resignation.

I knew Agnew had resigned in disgrace, but I had no idea just how bad he was. Astonishing that he was in office with Nixon, two of the most corrupt politicians in history.

It was also interesting to hear ordinary people of the time refusing to believe Agnew did anything wrong. Real shades of the refusal to believe Trump could do anything wrong and that he lost the election. The podcast is a few years old but has a section talking about Agnew's claims that Nixon threatened to have him killed. Maddow is very disbelieving that a President could conspire to have his Vice President killed....

I recommend the podcast if you have any interest in Watergate era American politics.
