The Democrats are riddled with awful gerontocrats in safe seats, Biden at least proved he can win a competitive race.

I thought Biden said he wouldn't run again.

He's explicitly said he intends to run again. Not that he'd say anything else at this point.

The latest article I found was this, there are articles back from 19 that he won't run. Unless he's said something I don't think you're right.

Still waiting on his Supreme Court expansion committee to recommend expansion, honestly. If he won't do it then he should step aside.

Such a weird situation where the US have just abandoned billions of dollars worth of equipment.

I'm surprised the US haven't just bombed the airfields, they must know where they left all that gooseberry fool.

Anyway, what the US need to do is provide weapons and training to the resistance fighters, I think long-term this would work out very well for the Americans and definitely not produce any blowback.

Definitely no harm in trying that. And if any former commander is kidnapped, maybe hire a military hero in a mullet and bandana to recruit a ragtag bunch of mercenaries to rescue him too.

The US funded the resistance to the Soviet occupation in Afghanistan. I wonder what happened to those resistance fighters.....

Those aren't Chinooks, they are CH-46s which were retired from US service several years ago, which is probably why the shells are still in the hangar. Why bother moving them?

None of the aircraft the US left behind is usable. It was all demilitarized.

And that $83bn of military equipment figure is the amount spent on arming the Afghan forces since 2001.

I think we are splitting hairs. The Taliban are far better equipped now than in 2001, and again rule the country. That's kind of the only metric that matters, the right wing talking point of the value of the material is irrelevant.

Edit: Not calling anyone here right wing, just that's the only chatter I see on twitter.

Most of the equipment the Taliban have gained is likely to have been seized from abandoned Afgan forces as opposed to the US military leaving it behind.

Also it still amazes me that a force of 75k armed men can control a large country with 40m people in it. And with half the population in the 20s or below.

Shirts not tucked in, guns pointed upwards with fingers on trigger. 4/10 would invade again.

And like they'd be able to operate or maintain any of the good stuff anyway. All you see on the news is the same bunch of guys driving through a market in a Ford ranger with a rocket launcher.

The conservative Supreme Court judges just let this anti-abortion law take effect in Texas without any kind of pushback.

Every day the Democrats spend not getting rid of the filibuster and not packing the courts is a day they slide further into political irrelevancy.

Texas policy straight out of the Handmaids Tale. Cool.
