Why? I think it's perfectly reasonable to judge them for their insane gun laws and their trigger happy police.

Do you think one is related to the other?

It’s an insane place. Their laws and law enforcement is relevant to and a product of their society and how it’s developed over the years. I don’t see any turning back for them.

Of course. It doesn't excuse them treating people like gooseberry fool or them murdering unarmed people.

Look at the way they treat the army guy. It's damn clear he doesn't have a weapon and they still act like power mad banana splits.

Of course, I completly agree. There are absolutly incidents of police abuse etc in the US as well as the UK.

However I believe the point RTOS was making was that when the average UK cop stops a car he's not expecting to face an automatic Rifle, when that is very much a possibility for a US Cop,

I'm not trying to wind you up, this is a discussion board after all... but why didnt the guy get out the car in the previous video?

If I've got guns pointed at me by anyone, no matter how much I think i'm in the right, I'm going to comply with someone who has a gun pointed at my head.

Oh I understood his point.

But I don't think that means we can't judge them.

Precisely.

Rightly or wrongly, I don't see how a police officer in the States doesn't approach a traffic stop with heightened anxiety. If someone refuses to step out of the car, it's fair to assume they may be hiding something... again, depending on whether they're in a state where concealed permits or open carries or both are in play.

I'm not saying it gives cops carte blanche to act like power-mad banana splits, as you (Moggy) say, and they definitely exist... but the 2A, for me, is why they approach all interactions looking to establish control as quickly as they can.

I highly recommend that Police Activity channel btw. It shows all body cam footage released and shows the good and bad of American policing. You can tell the bodycam footage being released in a lot of shootings prevents riots on the streets.

Because he was terrified that he was going to be gunned down?

Listen to what he's saying, he's scared (which doesn't help people make good decisions), he's asking why they have stopped him etc etc.

There's just no need for the police to behave like that.

A lot of people on the political threads have forgotten this over the past few months.

Bans aren't going to work without an accompanying shift in the public opinion on firearms. Even the most effective measures won't be worth a dime if there isn't buy-in from traditionally pro-gun demographics - groups currently heavily influenced by the NRA and the firearm industry mouthpieces on Fox.

Massachusetts makes it work, but only because the people support it.

Police shot and killed a man by mistaking their own gun for the tazer. I repeat, the police officer fired their gun, mistaking it for a tazer:

You couldn't make it up.

You can't mistake a gun for a taser. They feel completely different, and they're located on opposite sides of the body. She must have been in a blind panic, which seems like the default emotional state police officers are trained to be in nowadays.

This is criminally negligent manslaughter and similar cases have landed officers in prison. I don't know if she'll serve time, but she should.

I think people are. They just weren't aware that the NYPD were using them to recreate the start of a Terminator movie.

I don't even know what the police would need one for, other than to intimidate the general public .
