Looking for a new Usenet provider as I've used the 1TB data I paid for a couple years ago (Astraaweb) and have discovered that they no longer accept Paypal.

I basically just want to be able to pay for a set amount of data using Paypal.

I use NewsGroup Ninja and never had any issues. Not sure if they do block accounts though.

No Paypal payment option though, I don't like handing over my bank details to random websites.

So, I found a provider (Tweaknews, based in the Netherlands and has decent reviews) that accepts Paypal payments so signed up but I think I might have been ripped off as the login details they provided me with don't seem to work and the service plan I paid for doesn't appear on my user summary page.

I've contacted them via paypal but I think I'm going to have to escalate a claim to get a refund.

Changed my Paypal password just in case and am still waiting for a response from customer services .

It's strange, the user dashboard on their site shows I've paid for a years subscription yet the account tab on the same page says I have no active subs.

Everything about the provider seems legit and my Paypal history clearly shows the payment has been made so I don't think I've fallen foul of a phishing scam (via a fake Paypal login page) but I'm incredibly worried that I've been scammed and don't really know what to do.

Should I cancel my debit card or not? seeing as I didn't actually give them to the card details I don't know if that's necessary.

Help.

Just got a reply from their customer support saying they're looking into it, which is a little bit reassuring.

Still uneasy about it but would the payment really show up on both my paypal and their (real) site if I'd fallen victim to a phishing scam?

Tweaknews seem to get good reviews, so I think it's more likely a systems error than any kind of scam. Did you get an email confirmation after you paid?

you wont have to change your card if you did it through paypal - they cant access your card details or anything else.

Yes, although it did go straight to my junk folder.

It contained all the details for logging in such as my username and server details.

Also got a confirmation email from paypal too.

In that case, I expect it's just an issue with their side. I'd wait to see what their support says.

They haven't actually notified me yet but it looks they've sorted it out now. Panic over.

I'm now downloading all the eps of TV stuff I've missed over the last week or two.
