Wasn’t sure the second episode would be able to match the quality of the first but it’s just as brilliant in a different way. So little fanfare and extravagance, just simply delivers the message of ‘we’re all strawberry floated’ brilliantly and the drama of the situation just shines through. Such superbly restrained writing and performances. I’m not sure how accurate it is but when it’s this good I’m not sure I care.

The ending is just unreal, absolutely chilling. Also when the helicopter just drops out of the sky, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a moment like that delivered in such a powerful and understated way.

It really is superb.

The sense of dread is unlike anything else I've seen, I don't know whether its because it actually happened but I just find it both chilling and fascinating in equal measure .

Just finished episode 1 of Chernobyl and it is indeed excellent.
It's tense as strawberry float and the pace is just right as it shows just how dire the situation is without over the top drama or dramatics but it's really really shocking.

I know this isn't exactly how things happened but there's enough truth here that this is honestly eye opening.

Seriously anyone on the fence about this should give it a go as episode 1 will let you know if it's something you'll continue watching.

Another +1 for how incredible Chernobyl is.

Was a little odd at first having them all with English accents but I like the pattern of the posher accents being people more senior in the Communist Party with the
contrast of Scottish accents for the Miners.

Haven't seen episode 3 of Chernobyl yet, I'm watching several other things atm (I don't know how I actually manage to keep track but I do) and unfortunately haven't got round to it, will probably watch it tomorrow seeing as GoT has finished.

Just finished Barry S2. Really odd show this but very enjoyable nevertheless. It’s an odd mix of surreal goofball humour and super dark character drama. Sometimes it switches between the two at break neck pace and it can leave you scratching your head a bit. I’m not particularly up on my USTV at the moment but it feels like the kind of half hour Dramedy, that there used to be loads of a decade or so ago, like Weeds or Nurse Jackie at their peak, but I think has fallen out of favour more recently. I like it but I don’t love it because the contrast between the two halves is maybe a bit too stark for my tastes and the comedy is perhaps not as on point as I’d like it. That said it’s great to have something like this around at the moment.

Disappointing score - but going through the book I was amazed how much is sagged when Az/Crow aren't the focus - coupled with the actors in the show I can see tham being a real problem

The Oslo Killing S01E01, Tuesdays in the US. 6 episodes.

The Oslo Killing examines an unsolved crime that spans four decades and crosses several countries: Norway, Spain, Argentina and the U.S. In April 1974, Anni Nielsen Iranzo was found brutally murdered at her home in Oslo, Norway. She was beaten and strangled with a rope, while two months pregnant. Initially, the brutality of the act led the police to focus their investigation solely on male suspects. Anni’s husband, a Spanish diplomat with shady connections, was number one on their list. The police also considered intruders and people with political motives, such as the Basque separatist movement, but the only witness to the murder told an entirely different story.

It’s now a much more palatable 66, with a user score of 8.1. It’s one of my missus’ favourite books so we’ll be binging it when I get home from work tonight probably.
