Has anyone else been watching Lovecraft Country? Thought it started strong but has really fallen away. Really hope they wrap it up in the final episode as I don't fancy watching a second series.

It fell off in the second episode for me. That felt like about three eps worth of story condensed into 60 mins, and undercut a lot of affection I had for the character from a really strong pilot. I hobbled along for two more eps but it just wasn't up to the usual HBO standard I expect.

Have been rewatching House the past few weeks and am up to the midpoint of S4.

Having been obsessed with this show a decade ago when it was airing and watched the first few seasons at least half a dozen times, this is the longest I’ve gone without watching it since I first encountered it. Despite it’s hold over me having well and truly diminished there’s no doubt it’s still excellent and remains thoroughly enjoyable to this day. The first few seasons and the arcs they contain are of such high quality that it’s barely possible to separate them. The initial team all play off each other wonderfully and whenever Cuddy and Wilson drop in they bring such delight and humour you always want more.

The start of S4 is still really high quality but you can start to recognise the seeds of the shows eventual drop off in quality. At points it becomes so introspective and gets endlessly distracted in trying to make astute observations on the human condition that you can’t help but roll your eyes. One of the worst offenders is definitely Thirteen so you can see why she eventually became so derided by the fans.

Lot’s still left to enjoy from this point on though.

I still believe S1 to be the best season, with Three Stories being the best episode in the show's entire run.

The Wilson’s Heart episode of House is strawberry floated. So ludicrously exploitative that watching it now actually makes me a bit angry.

Waking someone up just to tell them they’re going to die, what strawberry floating bullshit is that :fp:

Is Stormfront doing that or is there some other Supe we haven't seen yet?

There's a couple of scenes that are excellent gif material too, Maeve's table flip and Butcher drinking tea

They do make gifs difficult to share on forums don’t they?

To be honest I probably thought that at the time but was so enamored with the show I was more willing to forgive it.

The bit of that episode that always hit me more was when House and Amber are in 'purgatory' and House is saying he doesn't go back because he doesn't want his friend to hate him
