Well I was look at BT/02 for broadband and phone rather than Sky.

I'd go with Virgin for broadband, brilliant service.

That is the major downside to Virgin, if you're not in a fairly built up area then there's little chance of you getting their cable service.

Virgin > O2. There was an investigation into the internet speeds people receive and Virgin were top by a mile.

You say that....but I live in a fairly modern city.

I have heard of the occasional building or two in a city not being able to get it, not quite sure what determines it.
