I recently setup my PSVR again; it had been quite some time since I used it and, with cooler weather here, it felt like a good moment to return to it.

Due to space challenges, the kit is setup at my desk so I'm only playing "sitting down" games. Even so... it felt so great to get back into the VR experience! PSVR is relatively old tech now but I feel that it's still impressive. Over the past week or so I've tried:

> Polybius - an excellent Llamasoft shooter; very effective VR but the real standout for me is the soundtrack; so many excellent (and original) dance/house tunes.
> Ocean Descent (PlayStation Worlds) - oh, man, this creeps me out even though I know what's coming :lol:

. Genuinely makes me jump!

Next up - hopefully tomorrow - will be either Astro Bot Rescue Mission or Moss. Both are excellent platformers/puzzlers and I'm excited about trying them again.

A pretty tiresome and knee-jerk response, Lewis - please check the Feedback and original VR thread to understand why this happened.

That's a really nasty post to make about anyone, whether or not you like them or the threads they make.

I'm not gonna accept that this kind of posting - from both Lewis and (in Feedback) Zilnad - is all okay. I get that, as with any social gathering, not everyone likes everyone; and that's fine, of course. People can get along without all loving each other.

However, recently I have felt that there is perhaps a small core of people here in GR who will snap and bite at any possible opportunity. Yes, I create threads. Yes, I make logos. Yes, I make suggestions. Yes, I mention my own name in "jawa asks"! And, yes, I post my opinions. That's the point of a forum, isn't it? I'm not doing any of those things in an "aggro" or horrible way.

I really like many people here in GR; they are fun to chat with. Some wonderful people! Even so, the petty digging - and, dare I say it, "bullying" - from a core clique in past months has got to be a bit much. It makes me wonder... what's the point? Time to move away? It is! Cheerio!

Fake edit: Yes, folk can, of course, now claim ownership of my threads or setup new threads if they want to. Even this VR one! (tumbleweed).

Whole thing could have been avoided with a simple thread bump.

I have zero stake as I own no VR platform, but the principle interests me here - what was wrong with the old thread? Could we not just have bumped it?

Or was it hitting the PHPBB issues?

It's just called "All platform VR discussion", which I guess is hard to find in a thread title search. It's easy enough to find though using words used in the thread.

The main drama isn't really about the VR thread though.

It's a moot point now, but that's not true -- the old thread used to have all the names in the title, but at some point SOK edited it to make the title just "All platform VR discussion". Jawa's point was that this doesn't have any searchable keywords ("VR" is too short to search for), and therefore he struggled to find it. His original request was only for a moderator to put some more keywords back in the title so it was easier to find, but it was suggested to him that he make a new thread instead.

Ah I see, hadn't clocked that SoK had changed the title on the old one - his banner message looked like the title to me! :lol:

Can we get the platform names added into this thread then? Feels like VR is the first thing people would look for (too short) but then I'd wager things like Vive, PSVR, Index would be people's next port of call. I don't think many people would search "Virtual Reality" in 2024 unless they were looking for clips of the classic 1993 TV show CyberZone :datass:

He'll be back.

I like Jawa, he has an enthusiasm and general niceness that is rare online, some may see that as attention seeking but I see it as someone wanting to be active and encourage discussion.
