What did Staydead do?

Amazing scenes at the Swansea game, as an intended minute's silence spontaneously became a minute's applause. Goosebumps.

Made a (not very good) joke. Which of course is unacceptable due to the death in question being to do with football.

Speed had appeared on BBC's Football Focus programme on Saturday and presenter Dan Walker Tweeted: "Staggered by the news of Gary Speed's death. Was with him for much of yesterday [Saturday]. I genuinely cannot believe it. Thoughts with his family.

"Gary was full of life yesterday talking about his kids, bright future with Wales, twitter, golf. Can't get my head round it. So sad."

Or because a lot of people are actually seriously affected by this shocking and devastating news.

No it's because it's to do with Suicide and because it wasn't a comical death like being ran over by an ice cream truck. And because it's not Michael Jackson.

I did find it strange that they were applauding such a tragic event. I obviously knew what they were meaning but I felt a silence would have been more suited.

Awful awful news. Can't quite believe it

Some people feel an applause is more suited because you're applauding a person's life, instead of the sombre atmosphere of a period of silence.

Aye, hearing the applause and the whole ground singing his name made me well up. A touching moment.

Applause is always better than an awkward silence.

Seconded. I thought the spontaneous applause and chanting was really nice.

It helped that it was spontaneous and not an organised applause.
