I believe that if we all try our best we can see Page 22 again.

I can post some thoughts on the undead game experience later if I've time.

Alrighty then!

So I died on day five, after the evening the Forces of Darkness made their debut. I had no clue they were the actions of the executed players. Hexx targeting Dual was a good move and it clearly paid off.

When I ''signed up' to the FoD (it seems ironic that Jenuall, in trying to kill the source of the undead, merely added to their ranks) jawa, Ob Bob and DarkRula were already part of the discussions as to what to do next, so I'm guessing that even though I died before most of them, I'd been inactive for longer. We came up with a plan wherein we'd build on Hexx's attack on Dual the night before: Dual had not used his own troops for anything but defence, so it could be feasibly argued that being attacked by the Forces of Darkness was a deterrent to not deploying your troops. In order to try and make it as un-obvious as possible that we were simply the dead players working together (which we figured would be easily spotted if our number grew in line exactly with the number of dead players), and to propagate the idea that it might be a sort of automatic incentive against inactivity, we decided to target our combined troops, but not all of them, against Mini E, who'd not committed troops to attack. We decided to use 300 because at that point there had been 3 players who'd executed prisoners, as another intended red herring.

Infortunately, despite our new shared win condition, OB was more interested in helping out his former allies, and sent his own 100 troops to attack Karl. :| :fp:

Anyway, night six soon came around, and we targeted the newly released players. By now communication wasn't great within our ranks and we totally failed to gain a consensus. We were split between those of us who wanted all out attack and those who wanted to not show our hand (as using our full strength, assuming the active alive players attacked one another too, would make it clear we would have the power to wipe them all out if the game lasted to another night) and in doing so spook the remaining Lords into choosing a king, as that at least meant surviving the game, and being an alive loser as opposed to a dead one.

On day seven we reached a quick consensus to go for an all out attack but never got chance. :( Twice a loser. :toot:

I signed up on a whim but this game really sucked me in. Well done OR for creating a compelling experience. If we did it again, I'd say allow captors to redistribute prisoners' troops, no FoD (as they'd be predictable), and have players be able to station their troops in defence of other players be a one and only way of getting over the 1k limit.

 This makes perfect sense, Ob would never let a vulnerable worker like me go unpunished. ;)

Oh I'd pretty much worked out that the FoD were being empowered by the death of players, it was too coincidental that they appeared after the first execution. All the stuff I wrote around the execution of yourself and Jawa was just a way to try and justify the action within the narrative of the game and to the others playing - if someone captured me they would have to come up with a similar reason why killing me made sense based on how the game was unfolding.

That and I just like writing nonsense fiction! :slol:

Well it was very compelling.

(Seriously - well done for taking it so seriously - it really added to the narrative and feel of the game! In fact, a lot of people really got into character for this, which was excellent  )

I think a lord who wanted nothing more than to turn the kingdom into a 128-hole golf course isn't the sort of king the land needs. Would have been funny had I actually been able to take that route further.

Thanks Dan! I agree on the FoD being a one-time-only thing, it was reliant on players not expecting that to happen. A similar game could be played again and those improvements sound decent, my only thought would be what alternative could there be to the FoD so that dead players aren't just out the game. I like the idea of everyone being able to play through to the end in some capacity!

Maybe some sort of post-game wager system, almost a second game in itself, where players bet on expected troop movements?
