Definitely not because you weren't smart enough, definitely not that no sir not a chance I say it once I say it twice no sir-ee-bob.

I literally got put on intermediate tier for everything based on my SATS results from when I was in year 6. I practised in all the higher papers for GSCE and never had a single issue. I asked the school to put me on a higher tier and they said I'd have to pay a ridiculous amount of money to do so.

I thought the highest grade for Intermediate was B though. It was Foundation that maxed out at C

Nope, it was C. Trust me, I was really annoyed at the time.

Foundation was maxed out at D.

I had a similar thing in English. Got told I would ahve to learn a load of extra stuff and that the teacher didn't want to teach me it so wouldn't ok it.

I learnt all the extra stuff anyway and then got told a month before my exam to change my teirs like they promised I'd need to pay 100GBP per exam.

Oh well, I ended up with more knowledge and after you've left school your GCSE results become completely irrelevant (so much so I was told by the recruitment consultant we had here to not even bother putting them on my CV) so *shrugs*

I've been asked to provide my GCSE certificates exactly once in my life, when I started my current (and first for that matter) job in September 2005. HMRC required at the time for you to have 5 GCSEs at A-C including Maths and English Language but if you didn't have them you could just sit their own tests which were equivalent to the respective GCSEs.

They don't require that anymore. Or at least if they do they screwed up because they employed me and I only have 4.

I really didn't care about my GCSE results as I knew I'd screwed up. I was bullied at school at lot and I think that had a far worse effect on my life than how badly I did on my GCSE's.

I passed everything with a C or above, except Maths. Keep thinking I should go back and do it, but it's kinda embarrassing to me now.

I was more excited about my results than nervous. Looking back it was totally unnecessary because if you strawberry floated up you could do retakes within 4 months or so. I remember getting a B in history and being a bit gutted as I really wanted an A as it was my favourite subject. I wasn't short of A's though so I was talked out of resitting that one.

Since then, I presented my certificates a grand total of once to my initial employer. I just changed jobs recently within my company and didn't put any secondary education certificates on my CV as they aren't interested in them. Experience seems to be the key factor when you get into your 30s.

Its also 50/50 from what I have seen with how uni grads are viewed. Some managers love them as they can flog the right ones to death, others don't have much time for uni grads due to a lack of experience and stigmas over lazy students.

I did well in English, got 98% on my course work and not far that on the exam, got a C which was the highest I was able to get with the banding I was forced into.

It's interesting to see how many people here were forced into bandings. That's what happened to me for a lot of subjects.

Looking back, my parents must have been pissed off with me. All my siblings were A grade students. Dat black sheep represent.

This is one of the reasons I don't really like the schooling systems. I felt like most of my teachers thought that I was an idiot and didn't spend time giving me any help.

I had a lecturer like that in A level Maths. There seemed to be a small kliq of people she had all the time in the world for but whenever I needed help understanding something she wasn't interested.
