I really hope they fix the tearing on PS4.

Other than that it's the usual day one bugs, that have already been mentioned here. Weirdly, the sky pulses different shades of blue at times. I've been to London loads and that definitely doesn't happen.

The environments are pretty darn London-y, so if you know the city then you'll know your way about. It goes out quite far too.. Brixton, Camden etc

I pretty much want to just recruit old women though. Like a whole tribe of them. I probably will do that. Or a tribe of tramps led by an old woman.

Do your tribe ever do missions together? Seems like a missed opportunity if not.

Not sure about this. Every mission seems to have you go the other side of the city and then to the other side. The different characters limit what you can actually do in mission too.

It depends if you like Spectrum 48k games I suppose.

Well, it is the law that London is always foggy, raining or stinking of raw sewage.

I saw a little bit of the game when Dark Rula streamed it last night. I just like the fact that it's set in London; seeing the UK-styled roads, street markings and buildings makes me want to try it out more than if it had been the more usual US-setting. You can even take a ride in the London Eye. It all looked quite attractive.

Gameplay-wise it didn't seem too different to that of the previous games in the series (albeit you use fists a lot more than guns) but I enjoyed that style anyway. I'm def up for trying this when the price drops.

Ye this isnt great. Its not worth recruiting people, the whole process is tedious and changing characters is tedious. It would be better if they drove up in a car instead of being on the other side of the map. I have a dude with heavy guns who I think I will just stick with cos I cant be arsed changing. The missions are really bland and samey.

Ah, nice one jawa. Yeah, there's a lot more fist-based action than even stealth this time around, but I think that was only because I kept failing at the stealth.

It's a lot of fun doing the recruitment missions where you have to infiltrate somewhere, and there always seeems to be one or two of those within a recruitment process anyway. I think I've explored most of the map now, and there is a lot to see. The only real downside I can see that I did mention on the stream yesterday is the fact that families don't recognise each other. Just an unfortunate part of auto-generating everything to do with the people that wander London. I'm loving it, is the absolute short of it.

Don't worry, they expect you to constantly use the Fast Travel system they don't explain and has tiny weird icons barely distinct from any other ones and don't appear at all zoom levels for some reason, and are fog-of-war'd even though WD2 showed that it's better to just let you fast travel everywhere off the bat.

If you've been doing that and it still feels like wasted time on the nothing part of the game, despite the stronger parts where Things Happen sitting right there, welcome to mandated Ubi design.

I got permadeath'd from not paying attention on Hard (btw, even though permadeath seems to enable the interesting element of losing operatives, it also wipes your save if you game over, and the ironman mode that seems to not be in the retail PS4 build right now?? just makes you unable to switch off permadeath rather than turning off save-wiping. also no skipping opening tutorial gooseberry fool because of course) and I don't think I've seen any actual prompt about fast travelling on either run.

I've been getting both these issues and I thought it was just from running through a crummy capture card lmao.

From the ACG youtuber -

Per Ubisoft the Next Gen patch isn't even ready and won't come out until the 9th-10th and they informed us 2 weeks ago about it. Not saying it will be improved but they made a big deal about it in ALL review notes that the next gen consoles stuff is not representative.

Played this for a couple of hours and apart from doing the mandatory prologue to open up the ability to free roam, ive only done the very first mission to open DedSec. Spent the rest of the time sightseeing and loving it.

Nicked a few vehicles including a double decker red bus, then stole a boat and went for a cruise down the Thames and went under Tower Bridge. Then found HMS Belfast and hacked a cargo drone next to it which I then climbed atop and flew for several virtual miles around and above Tower of London, Gerkin, Shard, Westminster. Hopped off and tried to get on the London Eye (but all shut up and couldn’t complete the hacking game which may have opened it). Saw the McDonalds opposite (“Burgers” ), next to Shreks Adventure and the Aquarium.

As someone who has visited London just a handful of times, I’m loving just exploring it.

Looking forward to seeing it on the XSX upgraded in due course

How close is it to the actual London?

I’m not the best to answer re road accuracy, but I’ve found loads of famous landmarks and tube stations. I can’t for one minute imagine it’s a 95-100% exact match but for me it’ll do

No Knightsbridge or Oxford St though sadly, the latter has been turned into a cul de sac up at Oxford Circus.

They've actually done a really good job, obviously it's been condensed somewhat, but pretty much all the major landmarks and details are where you would expect to find them.

You just go in from the right, over some boxes, and you're on the platform. That hacking game is just to open up a fence to get a tech point. It's great to be on it. I have to assume the construction work is just so they don't have to have people be on it with you and waiting in line to get on it, but it's still easily accessible and for some reason operational.

I see the PS4 Pro is the best version to play this.

Until the next gen reviews.

Permadeath operatives sounded really cool, why would they do it like this :fp:

Been playing it for most of the weekend and I'm really split, London looks lovely and recruiting characters is a cool idea, but there's that Ubisoft open world Janky-ness and I miss having a proper protaganist.

I feel like the majority of my entertainment value from this game will come from driving around trying to find places I used to work.

Really genuinely enjoying this, love the setting and the accuracy of it (see below, they've done am amazing job at creating a dystopian version of Chinatown, even the restaurant on the corner has the Chinese style roof fittings just as in real life, and the grocery store towards the far end is exactly where it should be), and using the spiderbot in particular is great fun.
