Another strong ep, Maeve's stuff is really getting going and Dolores at least was slightly more interesting with how it ended. Favourite moment was definitely hearing the first few notes of Paint it Black and immediately clicking what was about to happen.
Obviously something big going on with the telepathic commands - pretty sure Ford controlled hosts without speaking at some point in S1, although maybe I'm misremembering (was it with Bernard or Clementine?). Unless I'm misinterpreting it, seems like Maeve passed on the ability to Akane to some extent, maybe they bump back into Bernard at some point and he gets it too, which is how he ends up killing all those hosts in the water?

I didn't really enjoy that, I think the problem is that there's nobody to care about, no protagonist, so there's no stakes to anything. A robot dies, who gives a gooseberry fool? Shogun world could have done with a bit of a flashback to set it up I think, as going straight in at the chaos gives little room for world building.

Christ I can't work out if Ian Exposition is a really crap actor, or he's just meant to be a bellend.

Fairly slow episode but worth it for that ending, second half of the series is going to get so good now :D
So looks like Ford got his brain scanned into one of the host brainballs and uploaded into the Cradle which is how he keeps speaking to MIB through hosts. Willing to bet he's behind the natives' weird stuff, probably not made them sentient so that he can still control them which is why Maeve's commands don't work on them.
No clue what that opening was about though, is it a flash forward or is it just Bernard's memory being screwy again?

I thought
The 'twist' of Ford being in the matrix was so obviously signposted from the start that it can only be to distract from the Arnold stuff that's right in front of our faces. I reckon that him being in that room with the white thing and handling that ball is supposed to make us think that it's him making Ford's memory, but it's possibly the real Arnold being held against his will for fidelity (hence the Delores bit). Glad the heroes series 2 Japan stuff is done, it was rubbish.

Thinking on it again, the Dolores/Bernard scene could be somewhere between her raid on the HQ and Bernard washing up on the beach - maybe she's reprogrammed him like she did with Teddy and is trying to use him as an inside man against the Delos people.

Have they ever told us what the Hosts are powered by? They’ve not shown them being plugged in, so I guess they don’t use batteries. Do they have some sort of internal power (like the Terminator’s nuclear power) or are they powered by wireless inductive power?

I wonder if they ever got off of the island, would they last long before running out of power?

This season doesn’t seem to be generating much opinion in here.

I have been enjoying it, although it does seem to be missing something from the first season. The last few episodes have been great though, the Native American episode was fantastic and this weeks episode was good, if a little bleak.

I hope they get out of Westworld or into the “valley beyond” by the end of this season though, the story needs to move on outside of the park.

It's been nowhere as good as the first season. Every scene with Dolores is absolutely boring as strawberry float and the Man in Black's plot armour surpasses anything in Game of Thrones which takes some doing. If it wasn't for Jeffrey Wright I wouldn't be arsed about this season at all.

Ending was a bit effy, but rest was pretty good.
The Native Indian episode, and episode 9 were fantastic.

Anything with Maeve is just filler.
They are trying to make it too complex. Should just stick with the premise, robots learning to be human.

Just caught up on the last 5 episodes including the finale.

My series 2 review:
Image

Well thst was 90% guff :| I'd say out of all that there were only 2 good episodes. The rest had the odd good bit but it was mostly pretentious shite. It had phantom menace syndrome of a load of characters, but nobody to care about. I certainly can't care about a load of robots going to freedom, who gives a gooseberry fool? Oh no robot number 49284 got killed oh well.

Series 1 had the William plot, which while ultimately being a setup for a twist, told an outside world story inside westworld, so you got to see how a real person could be seduced by it's power and lose himself in the fantasy, you were on the journey with him, all in a believable world. Series 2 was just endless inception BWAAÀAAAA noises and team America driving around in warthogs shooting at red hats. The whole arc of this series could have been told in 4 solid packed episodes instead of being spun out over the whole thing. And again, another MIB twist which was heavily foreshadowed too early and didn't have the shock it was supposed to.

Really disappointing stuff and I'm not really interested in where it goes now. Certainly not shotgun world as that was mostly crap too.

Frustrating, series 1 was one of the best shows in years :x

I did think it was clever how the whole series plot was shown during the intro (we clocked it about half way through). It really showed up when they go to the forge and you see the mess of wires in the background, which is shown in the intro but you think it's hair. The buffalo smashing through the window and the final episode host building machine arm moves across the shoulder in the same way too.

I’ve enjoyed the second season. It wasn’t as good as the first and certainly meandered a fair bit more but it has had a decent story and some good episodes.

It had a good denouement with some nice twists.

Decent but not as good as the first season.

Gone back to this now, episode two of season two was better than the return. Still not sure where they are going with this and don’t believe it will match season 1

Just struggling with this, 4 episodes in. Does it get any better?

There's 1 properly good episode a few from the end, the rest of it was gooseberry fool unfortunately.

Biggest quality dive in a show since heroes.

I don't think it ever hits the heights of the first season, but Ad is being overly dramatic when he says it is Heroes level gooseberry fool.

I enjoyed it overall, the only let down was that the first season was so good, this could never live up to it. It's still better than the majority of TV.
