One of these is clearly worse than the other. At least the lootboxes are hopefully tacked on to a half decent game whereas a broken game is gooseberry fool from the outset.

Defending utter tripe because you happen to like a single aspect of the game or it's by your favourite developer/publisher (see Jawafour in Fallout 76 thread and Photek in Sea of Thieves/State of Decay thread).

Jawa had to make a seperate thread to talk about actually playing Fallout76. I generally stopped posting in the SoT's thread (despite posting it's light on content before and after it launched which got lost in the lols) and I'm not sure I defended State of Decay 2 at all.

The point is, if people like a game the thread shouldn't be sh*tted up by people who'll never play it or even own the console it's on.

Ideally there should be separate threads for playthroughs and the games themselves.

Resetera has a separate "Community" forum for this, but I don't think GRcade is big enough for that.

I use Reddit for games I like generally, It'd be nice if I could post stuff in here though but none of us can be enthusiastic about a game that got a low metacritic score because this place is toxic and maybe it does need policing.

It's really a catch all for all the associated fluff and shite that's caught up with games these days. Mostly I'm talking about whooping Americans and the weirdos that always seem to be front and centre anytime something gets any kind of press. About the only stuff that I don't find really cringeworth is the retro-scene, but even that has it's moments.
