What about 2006 and Gears of War?

Do people really think this year was disapointing? I think 2007 was an exceptional year I never exspected 08 to match up to that. It's still been pretty good though.

2007 and 2008 have been very special in my view. 12 months ago I wouldn't have thought 2008 could live up to the releases back then - how wrong I was.

As for next year, I'm looking forward to Killzone 2, Resi 5, Halo Wars and Skate 2.

BioShock 2, Brütal Legend, StarCraft 2 part 1, Aliens: Colonial Marines.
Next Splinter Cell maybe? I'm hoping for Mass Effect 2 as well.

Edit - a few more: Bayonetta, Fight Night Round 4, F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, Empire: Total War, Tekken 6, Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, Blood Bowl, Dawn of War 2, Wolfenstein.

Prototype and All Points Bulletin will be representing for the openworld genre.

Darkseiders and Edge of Twilight (posisbily) for the 'we can outdo DMC/God of War, honest guvnor' genre.

It's coming. You can literally put the house on it. Ubisoft are just taking a very long time in announcing it, is all...

Forgot about Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, Dragon Quest V, Star Ocean Second Evolution, Chrono Trigger.

Next year could be better than the last two for me and my gaming tastes.

A backlog from this year to play through, probably.

Darksiders is like an odd mix of God of War and Zelda. It won't outdo it, it'll just be different, in a good way.

Reggie at next year's E3:

You've played AS Mario. (dramatic pause)

But in a brand new game, coming out this holiday...for the first time...you can BE Mario. Here to put smiles on a few more faces is Shigeru Miyamoto, introducing......MARIO'S EDGE.
