What genre's do you generally avoid buying titles from?

Anything to do with games at all.

music / rhythm action games - like guitar hero, rez, lumines, rock band etc. Hate them. Theyre just all one big QTE.

FPS games. Partly dislike, partly because I'm useless at them.
Not a huge fan of fighting games either. In the past, I've enjoyed Tekken 3 and Street Fighter 2, but modern fighting games bore me.
Stealth (a genre?) like MGS. Again, mixture of boredom and a lack of ability.

Strategy games, because I'm gooseberry fool at them. Particularly real-time strategy games. And real-time strategy games with horrifically complex controls, especially.

Though I do like Fire Emblem and Advance Wars (though I'm massively gooseberry fool at the latter, too).

I'm not a big fan of realistic racing games (but then I did enjoy Forza), and I'm not as fond of FPSes as some on here are, but then again I've been getting into them more recently. Mainly thanks to Valve, it has to be said.

I've not gone since the early days of the PS2 without buying a beat-em-up (Tekken I think).

JRPGs, I liked FF7, but since then they don't seem to have changed and just feel incredibly dated.

 at the amount of RPG hate.

I never buy RTS games or any sports titles bar the Mario Tennis or Football Manager series. I'm not planning to buy any more FPS games in the near future either, simply because I'm all FPS'ed out.

Strategy games. I just can't get my head round them, I'm more of a fan of instant gratification, though I will admit it is very satisfying to plot an outright victory against an opponent, it's just too much work for a result I could get from simply playing a quick round of Timesplitters.

I pretty much avoid fighters these days. Used to be a big fan but now I find there's very little defining the sequels from their predecessors. Marvel vs Capcom is the exception, however.

I'm not fond of sport or racing games unless they're exaggerated and veer away from realism . The mario sports games (mainly just the tennis), Burnout, that kind of style.

Party games. I'll always have at least one friend who owns them so I just pop over theirs or invite them over with it.

I really like western style RPGs such as KOTOR and Oblivion: it's the massively overblown and relentlessly formulaic JRPGs that do my head in. Canton and a few other from the forum have raved about LO for the 360 though; to the extent that I might rent it out or maybe pick it up if it's going cheap somewhere!

Survival Horror, I haven't played them all but the few I've tried have been terrible controls combined with terrible camera. No thanks.

RTS & some of Sports.

And some in party. I'll gladly to buy Guitar Hero/Rock Band/Buzz, but not like every version. Just one on latest platform and that's it.

FPS - Most of them give me motion sickness
Realistic Driving games - I do like me some arcade style driving though
RPGs - For the sheer ammount of work it takes to get anywhere. That and random battles bug me.

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread

I'll just go with this, saves me writing out a proper post.

Someone else who didn't like it. But then I had played Ouendan before playing EBA and thought it wasn't very good compared to Ouendan. I thought I was the only one who didn't like it!

J-rock is just better for that type of game, although EBA is still great.

3D fighters - I'm a button masher by nature, and find them hoorendously difficult to get into.

Sports sims. Any sports sim. I don't like them in real life, so I'm not going to waste my fantasy-time on 'em.

Realistic racers. No I do NOT want to tweak the strawberry floating calibration on my clutch. I want to fire ROCKETS.

RTS. I find most of them boring and they require too much time/effort for what I'm willing to put in.

Also fighting games. I buy about one a generation, the last being Soul Calibur II on the Xbox.

RPG's for me too and most FPS's

and 99% of sports games, only Virtua Tennis and the first Top Spin interested me (didn't like VT3 tho for some reason) and tried Pro Evo 2008 but can't be bothered learning all the moves and I love sports.
