As someone already said (kezzer?), people can be morons, regardless of which mode of transport they choose to use. A moron on a bike is probably also a moron in a car.
For me, the point is that we tend to talk about groups of road users in general terms because it's easier, 'cyclists are a menace', 'people that drive 4x4s are banana splits', etc., and if we're going to generalise I think it's perfectly fair to say that bicycles are not the problem, cars are the problem.
It's perfectly fine to highlight specific acts of cycling idiocy but cyclists in general aren't the problem, in my opinion.
