What has annoyed you on the roads today?

So, my first thread as a GRCade member. Sorry to disappoint, it is not the highly anticipated 'evolution' thread. But, this is a place to discuss any idiots you have seen on the roads that may have annoyed you that you would like to share.

I saw a fish turn into a reptile which turned into a monkey which turned into a human. Evolution on the A38. :shock:

Highly doubt that as evolution is a myth

Won't be driving until tomorrow, but I feel like this thread will be a cathartic place for me.

Not today necessarily, but in general trucks overtaking trucks on dual carriageways. They always overtake at about 0.00000001mph faster than the truck they're passing.

Trucks should be banned from the overtaking lanes of dual carriageways between 6am-9am and 3pm-6pm.

People cutting in at the last moment before a junction.
People not indicating at roundabouts.
People driving really slowly on said roundabouts.

Roundabouts.

I leave the house after rush hour now to avoid annoyance.

There's a roundabout near me where there are two lanes as you come to it.

Left lane is left turn and straight ahead only.
Right lane splits in half about 30 feet before the roundabout.
Middle lane becomes right turn and straight ahead only, Right lane becomes right turn only.

As you would expect this means the right lane approaching the roundabout develops a queue of traffic. A lot of people decide they don't want to wait so drive down the left lane, stay in the left lane, then turn right on the roundabout anyway. I've nearly been smashed into so many times whilst in the middle lane and turning right.

Lorries.

This morning's drive was fairly uneventful, thankfully. My drive is normally horrendous each way and I dread it most days. I got rear ended twice last year on the morning run but the only way to avoid it would be to get a new job closer to home. Sometimes I take the longer country roads for quickness but the amount of times I then end up stuck behind a 40mph tootler.... God, I hate driving.

Not specifically today, but when I drive to work, as I join the A1 there are always 2 cranes who join at the same time, who seem to have a top speed of about 30mph. Slow-moving vehicles are supposed to be prohibited from that stretch of road between 7am-9am, but there they are, like clockwork, joining at 7.10am. Arseholes.

There was a car broken down the other day in Exeter, seemingly just abandoned as it was there pretty much all day!

I don't drive but I live just off a really busy road, part of the A690. I get really annoyed by people not indicating when turning into the side streets I pass on my way to work and by people who seem to treat the stretch of road like a race track. There's been a rapidly increasing number of accidents on the stretch of road just down from where I live the most recent of which could have killed me if I'd left the house even a minute or so earlier.

Had the classic "lorries going down narrow country lanes" problem this morning. Bane of my strawberry floating life.

Can totally see me cracking in a Michael Douglas in Falling Down style at some point in the future because of these arseholes.

Elephant Racing should definitely be outlawed. Pass or stay the strawberry float out of the passing lane.

First of all, it shouldn’t have a name as cool as Elephant Racing.

Second of all, is there a reason limiters in the lorries couldn’t be modified to allow small spikes in speed for overtaking?

Signs that aren’t strawberry floating clear. On a four lane part of the M73 just after an on-ramp there’s a sign for Daldowie Crematorium that has a diagonally pointing arrow. The motorway then immediately breaks off into two roads - one going straight and one going right.

If you’ve just come onto the motorway and have never been to said crematorium you now need to guess that you’ll have to cut across two lanes to get into the right road, because it’s not made clear on the sign.

And now try doing it in the middle of a snowstorm :dread:

Driving in and out of London today and most days. The amount of Toyota Prius and Addison Lee wankers on the road.
