We’ve had tons of E3 Press Conferences, Nintendo Directs and game reveal presentations over the years, some have been awful but some have been really exciting/hyped in terms of game reveals and gameplay showcases. What ones stand out to you as being the best you have seen?

One that always stands out to me was Sony’s E3 2016 Presentation

We got the reveal of Marvel’s Spider-Man, Resident Evil 7 and God of War. Sony Bend showed off Day’s Gone, we got gameplay of Horizon Zero Dawn, it was banger after banger after banger and just a pure games showcase. It was the first Sony one I ever stayed up late to watch live as well and it was well worth it.

Definitely Sony 2016. It was the absolute perfect mix of gameplay, stage presence and hype announcements, it was all done without bluster and a level head too. That and the production was just incredible. Sony undoubtedly peaked with it. They tried to repeat it in following years but the balance was of and they ended up getting a bit pretentious. Then Jim Ryan took over and they've been in the toilet since.

To be honest the best bit about E3 is moaning after about who had the shittiest conference.

The church of Sony was really shitty.

I actualy feel Microsofts show this year might be among the best ever if they can get their studios to bring some old fashioned, banging trailers.
I just hope they don't concentrate on games we won't actually be able to play for 2+ years.

This is exactly why I have stopped watching show streams that feature other folks' opinions and why I generally steer clear of discussion about them post-event. I'm not saying this shouldn't happen - I know that plenty of folk enjoy this aspect! - but it's just not for me :-).

Most enjoyable? I tend to like seeing any new games introduced and I soon forget specific shows. I remember being excited about the Wii U being shown (even though many people - probably rightly! - found the announcements a bit confusing) and I also very much enjoyed the PlayStation 4 unveiling at E3; that got me pretty hyped.

Devolver Digital. They usually come with some interesting games but the whole show is a mindfuck.

The Dreamcast announcement. I felt really optimistic for the future. Personally the console lived up to the hype even though the general public disagreed.

Also

I was so hyped when this got announced

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread

It will always be Sony's 2006 offering:

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Xbox has had some really bad conferences over the years, usually they are bad tbh, last year I thought it was good because it was fast and fluid with actual content, if they can do the same this year it could be a good one again, Jeff Grubb has noted that this years is FAR more locked down than any other....no idea if this means its better or not.

The back compat announcement was pretty decent tbf.

Only one that sticks out at present is Nintendo's E3 of 2017. Short and sweet, and topped off with that Mario Odyssey trailer that first introduced us to Jump Up Super Star.
