What is the angriest a videogame has ever made you?

Maruo Kart 8 and Deluxe. There's plenty of VoDs.

Well there's the usual bullshit in Mario Kart 8 which causes most people to rage

Other than that it's probably based around saving. Metroid Prime 2 I think I spent ages searching for a save point but ended up dying. Probably Dark Souls several times as well

For myself its just the usual stuff like Fifa and Mario Kart, fun games most of the time but when they wind you up, they really wind you up! :lol:

Fifa for example, playing great and you score a cracker :datass:

Only for the Ai to comeback after kick off and start playing like Barcelona even if they’re some league two team, they always seem to be a move ahead of you and it just infuriates the hell out of me!

Mario Kart is 99% fun but the 1% is like above, infuriating beyond belief. Most extreme case being Mario Kart 7, trying to 3 star every cup was torture, had to get the win and finish with 10 coins each race but the amount of times I’ve gotten past the last set of item boxes on the 4th Grand Prix only to get hit twice by shells has caused me to quit more often that I like to admit. Mario Kart 8 isn’t as bad, in fact I find just taking a break or changing character helps rebalance this one.

Pokémon does it ever so slightly as well, mainly on the older games when you were trying to catch a legendary Pokémon and the RNG just wasn’t in your favour, minimum health, paralysed or asleep and it still would not catch! Thankfully for this its just a matter of time more than anything else but still a little annoying.

That waterwheel bit in Ico was a nightmare!

There's also been a few moments in CoD multiplayer over the years where the controller has come close to flying across the room.

Oh god Mario Kart 8. I didn't want to play it anymore when I unlocked the higher CC's.

All y’all complaining about MK8’s one-player obviously never played Super Circuit. You needed a stupid number of coins to three-star cups, there was a finite number of coins per track and a Boo that would have you haemorrhaging them for laughs, and you had to get the higher ranks to unlock things. Genuinely horrible.

Yeah that was not great either! In fact Mario Kart seems to be scoring quite highly in this topic for the wrong reasons.

I'm genuinely struggling to think of good examples now. I know for a fact that there are plenty of games that have pissed me off no end but I think my mind has blocked them out to protect me from those painful memories! :lol:

Not a perfect race if you didn't have a horn in reserve to protect yourself from blue shells...

I think only a good game would make me angry, as only then would i feel compelled to keep playing. A lot of the crap i played on C64 etc was truly designed for frustration, but i would simply move on to something else.

Football games & Beat-em-ups (Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting on difficulty 7 for me) are probably common ones to trigger people, as they require a level of dedication and commitment..... only to then get dicked by AI.

I get momentarily angry with games like Dark Souls where you can lose resources or have to repeat bits because of a small mistake or general jankiness. I'll usually just stop playing and then go back to it later.

This actually happened just now, I was trying to cheese my way through the Tombs and that stupid skeleton archer shot me in the back. :lol:

Instant ragequit, but it only takes me 10 seconds to calm down and see the funny side.

I don't get angry per se if I'm on a losing streak in a multiplayer game, but it can make me very irritable and sulky if I'm already in a less than great mood. (If I'm cheerful going in I'll generally stay cheerful though to be fair.)

On KF’s topic: Smash Bros. Just one-on-ones against the CPU, where I kept losing. Cue much ‘HOW THE F*** DID YOU DO THAT YOU INKY LITTLE ****’

Dark Souls in general I don't find annoying at all but it does have one of the most annoying common problems in games - inconsistent rules between the player and the enemies. If you swing your weapon in a tight corridor or near a wall then your attack is stopped as you bounce off the wall, but if an enemy does it they are fine.

Plus it leads to bullshit like this:

Speaking of Nintendo, Mario Kart can be annoying too. I wouldn't say I get "angry", but I struggle to enjoy it sometimes as it's clearly total bullshit. :lol:

It's not like it made me rage quit, or lash out, or anything like that at the time, but Uncharted 2's whole, "actually, are you the bad guy?" bullshit still has me thinking about it, and its consequences for games that came after, more than a decade after I last touched the game, so yes, I mad.

Looks like you just need to "git gud" more.

Seen lots of FIFA mentioned here, I oddly haven't ever got the rage from it, but PES was always a different beast. Maybe it was the way the game was played that made it more frustrating, I can't really remember now. Such rage though, glad I don't get like that anymore :lol:
