What is the angriest a videogame has ever made you?

Gotta be from playing FIFA. Not played one in a good 8 yrs or so, but used to play a lot online. There was just so much bullshit occurring, like the annoyong momentum crap where literally nothing worked if it wasn't in your favour.

Ended up taking it outside and dropping a sledge hammer on the disc...

A former colleague of mine went on a huge FIFA losing streak and took his 360 outside and kicked it around the garden.

Any game with bullet sponge human enemies. Three shots to the chest,one shot point blank in the face and they're still able to go to a rave and dance the strawberry floating night away. Uncharted is bad for it.

Also,any sports game when your opponent quits the game when you're beating them.

This in any online multiplayer that doesn't automatically give the win to the person who didn't quit

Phantom Hourglass multiplayer was ruined by quitters, and recently Mario and Sonic Tokyo 2020 was pretty bad for it too

I guess the main one would be Smash or the like. I'm generally ok with things like Dark Souls because the rules are there, it's just learning them and how they work in each fight. I'm generally ok with things like Mario Kart/Party because I go in expecting RNG to strawberry float me due to the nature of the game. I think it's the competitiveness of Smash which makes it different from Dark Souls because there are times that I'm sure a certain move works one way, like Byleth's down B having armour, only to get knocked out of it and punished hard because I thought it came in earlier than it does. They're usually entirely a case of me not knowing the game as well as I think I do, and are often followed by a cascade of similar failures.

Alternatively, FFXIV where we wipe because someone isn't paying attention, but our group is usually good about calling raids early if someone is consistently making dumb mistakes, like just forgetting that a certain mechanic exists. It's usually when we're progging a later phase but spend a night reverting back to phase 1 prog for no reason other than a wandering attention. And in fights outside of Savage/Ultimate it doesn't matter as they can be brute forced anyway and will be over in like 20 minutes, but boy do you still get some fine examples of humanity in them for the duration.

The first level of Little Big Planet. I was going through a bit of a rough time IRL (quit PGCE, unemployed, looking back at how I was I actually had undiagnosed depression), and sat down to pay a bit of co-op with my gf (now wife). There was this one jump I just could not do. I'd done it before in single player, but I just could not time it right. Something inside me snapped. I put the controller down, blurted "I can't do this I need to stop" and just walked out of the room. I never touched the game again :lol:

I got so mad at the CPU in Mario Party DS when I was 9 that I threw my DS on the ground and stamped on it

asides from that, idk, I guess trying to beat literally any level in Rondo of Blood has made me question my own value as a human being

I asked my wife this and she says when her save game glitches in Sims 3 and is unrecoverable so she has to start again.

Not really the fault of the game but I once accidentally overwrote a savestate while playing Phantasy Star IV on an emulator, losing around 15 hours progress.

I may have swore a little.

Forgot about my latest one. I played through Ass Creed Black Flag recently, and the main missions were absolutely rage inducing. Tailing mission after tailing mission. The rest of the game is good to excellent, but jesus, I think the main missions drag the game down considerably. The sheer rage from failing a mission because you didn't follow the path the game wants you to, it just made me extremely angry.

Tailing missions are always a pain, there was loads of them in Judgement.

the fact that you can and will fail missions because some ridiculous glitch strawberry floats up your path is similarly rage inducing

I was playing a game once at uni and my housemate decided to hang up his washing. There wasn't enough space on the airer so he decided to improvise and hung his wet jeans on the master switch of the fuse box

The handling in GTA4 annoyed me to the point of never going back. The strawberry floating Teflon cars did my head in so much that when I kept failing a tailing mission because I had to stop on a hill going about 4mph and still ended up skidding down into the back of the guy I was meant to be following thus failing the mission that I just couldn’t face sinking any more time into it.

Sonic in Smash 4. The general balancing of Smash to this day. I just cannot understand a lot of design choices, particularly the way they butchered Smash in Smash 4. Ultimate's a lot better, but there are still some wack design choices for characters.

Had one of these moments at the weekend where I had to put down the controller and switch games. Forza Horzion 3 on the Expert/Pro difficulty (can't remember which it's set at currently). Cheating AI missing checkpoints and still being allowed to continue in the race. Also, magic AI car handling too :evil:

Didn't come across this in Horizon 4 so glad they sorted it out.

the netcode and online performance of destiny on ps4 made me so upset all of the time, eventually a punched a hole in the (thin) wall next to me and learnt how to count to ten

I'm not a violent gamesplayer by any means but when I was a kid I had my moments. WWE Wrestlemania 21 on the Xbox had controls so bad and unresponsive that I pelted my controller, which ironically made every game totally unresponsive. The incredibly overpowered Pai Chan (I have less trouble with Dural) made me snap a Virtua Fighter disc.

I can get annoyed still, like with cheap tactics in Overwatch or building up an impressive number of curse cards in Slay the Spire only for the fkin Fire Breathing card to decide not to show up for the first run in forever, but overall I'm much more chilled out.

The story of WWE games on Xbox: phenomenal graphics, terrible gameplay. From memory, WrestleMania was actually the best of the 3.
