Is that a good idea Moggy? Mario would presumably be around 60 by now...

Keep the moveset of Odyssey but actually make a good game to put it in. Sunshine sequel would be sweet

I always wondered what Galaxy 1 & 2 would look like in HD. Would like to see that, minus the motion control bullshit.

If there were to be ports of the Galaxy games, wouldn't Nintendo be able to use the gyroscopic stuff in the Switch controllers to mimic the Wii aiming? I know a few games use that method, and while it's less precise than what the Wii offered I don't recall offhand any moments in Galaxy that required laser precision (admittedly only played the first one, and some time ago at that).

We're so different. You don't like Odyssey despite it being one of the best games ever (comfortably the best Mario game) but think BotW is better than OoT.

I don’t know what thinking Odyssey is the worst Mario game has to do with thinking BOTW is better than OOT.

Edit: Seems I misread your post.

There is no way Odyssey is worse than Sunshine.

That game is a bit of a mess, in certain aspects.

He takes things a bit far with the breaking down of every type of moon but this video basically breaks down exactly how I feel about Odyssey.

I don’t like a lot of the world design and most of what you’re doing is tedious, albeit with a beautifully controlling character.

Edit: I don’t know why the video isn’t working

BotW is my fave game ever, and Odyssey is my second fave. #blessed

I'll take an Odyssey sequel if its going, even though the original suffered from arbitrary filler and doing for the sake of doing.

Saying that, I would like a follow up provided it cuts down on padding and focuses on broadening the scope of its kingdoms - which should result in avoiding examples like the Ruined Kingdom and the Cloud Kingdom - and moons that require more improvisation than no thought at all.

Odyssey was ultimately disappointing for me. I would have preferred less moons of a higher quality with less repetition. Some of them are great the first time you do them but then they make you do it again. And again. And again. With just slight variation. They went with quantity over quality and that dilutes the experience.

I also think the quality of levels lets it down. Metro and Sand Kingdom are great but nothing else really comes close. A lot of the levels are smaller than you’d expect too. It means the exploration side just isn’t as fun.

Personally I would prefer a return to Galaxy as that’s easily the pinnacle of 3D Mario, and the style of Mario I enjoy the most.

I’m certain we’re getting Odyssey 2 ether in 2020 or 2021 though.

The moveset alone is enough to discount odyssey ever being called a bad game. Fair enough on the personal taste of not liking the structure but you're mental if you think it's a bad game!

So, remove two of the best set-pieces for the game.

I do agree with removing padding and making the Moons rarer and more special, but not like that.

I honestly while never understand why the "motion controls" in Galaxy annoyed people so much. It probably involves less motor coordination than pressing a 2cm round button. I even stuck the term in inverted commas as it was simply a shakw of the wrist and required nothing demanding or coordinated of the player. I never had it fail to activate either. Possibly my years of thigh quivering omniwanks helping me out. God bless broadband internet arriving as the same time as my hormones.

Though of course, games should be as accessible as possible, so any rerelease should allow it to be mapped to a face button so as many people as possible can play it. I quite liked the tactile quality of the spin being tied to a physical movement.

Because motion controls suck, they are stupid, they are annoying, and they are gooseberry fool. Nintendo need to get the strawberry float over them.

Counterpoint: because gamers were used to button-only controls, and refused to learn new input methods that required more than a few seconds of learning something new. See: the many non-gamers for whom they worked.

Motion controls can be rubbish and they can be great. They can seem shoehorned in or they can add to a game. They can be good or bad, as long as you’re not dogmatic about them.

This is rubbish. Motion control in Splatoon allows quicker and more precise aiming than analogue would.

They can be annoying where they’re pointlessly forced into a game for the sake of it, but Nintendo are using them more to compliment the main control scheme (for example, aiming your bow in BOTW).
