Same here, Super Mario 64 2 would do me, and please go back to the Mushroom Kingdom and bring back the original power-ups, not stupid spring mario, or the really ridiculous flying one from smg, which was so out of place as was the bee one.

More than anything I want the magic back, like Twilight Princess it lacked something from its predecessors, I felt even Super Mario Sunshine has bags of magic and inventive ideas, SMG was intended more for platforming purists, the thing is 3D action adventures were revolutionised when Super Mario 64 came on to the scene, there was no need to go back to the extreme imo. Please Nintendo, larger worlds!

Super Mario Galaxy is without a dobut the most "magical" game I've played since I was a small boy. Had I played it then I would probably have died with excitement.

Hmm, did you experience Super Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64 at launch?

The music in SMG is great, I just do not like the constant jumping and the small planets, I felt it lost its epicness, if you get what I mean.

To be honest, I thought SMG was a great platformer, but not quite as good as everyone seems to want to think it is.

Oh yes. I was there. Also a very "magical" experience. On the subject, I've got to disagree with you about Sunshine. It was a perfectly sound game but it didn't appeal to the heart like 64 or Galaxy.

You're right about another thing though; Galaxy has a terrific soundtrack.

Interesting (read: gooseberry fool) fact: 3D Sonic games are continually compared to classic 2D Sonic games. 3D Mario games are almost never compared to the 2D ones. What gives?

Because the 3D Mario games are actually good and live up to the quality laid down by the 2D games.

This.

I would put it behind SM64 and Banjo Kazooie.

What?

SM64 is not an action adventure.

I actually found Sunshine a fair bit more "magical" than Galaxy (setting aside the absurdity of varying levels of magicalness). I'm not sure why. It's definitely a worse game. Maybe just cos I was younger when I played it.

I know this is totally off topic but I would apply that statement to the entire 360 catalogue of games, except Orange Box.

Can anyone find a picture of that ugly PS360 Mario's face?

Sunshine in many ways is a happier game than Galaxy. Once Delfino Plaza is fully lit up, it looks glorious. Can't fail to put a smile on your face.

As for the lack of big levels in Galaxy, I can only surmise that some people didn't play half the game, or that some are looking back to Mario 64 with rose-tinted bins on. Because the larger stages in Galaxy are easily a match, size-wise, for those in 64.
