If you have just finished a game and there isn't a new game to play (brand new or unplayed at all new) do you struggle to motivate yourself to pick back up a partially played game?

PLAY | Persona 3 Reloaded [3h]
WATCH | Ted Lasso S3, HiJack S1, Red Dwarf S4, Dexter S2
RACE | Chew Valley 10k (June), GNR (Sept), Cardiff Half (Oct)

I just don't have partially played games. Much simpler.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Yes, that's why I have a pile of shame you can see from space. I get easily distracted by the next new shiny thing.

Ive just finished Luigi's Mansion 3 on the weekend and have not picked up a game since, was happily playing FF8 before but I think because I have nothing brand new to play I am struggling. Once I start replaying a game im halfway through I know i'll get back into playing it all the time.

I tend to pick one story based game and stick to it until I beat it or if I don’t enjoy it anymore.

If it comes to picking up something as an in between game why not try a roguelike or something like that? Something that is endless and can just pick up and do a run every now and then.

Not on the whole but it does depend.

If I was enjoying the game beforehand and I’ve simply got sidetracked by a new game that I’ve completed then sure I’ll go back to it. If I wasn’t enjoying it anyway then I just write it off, some weeks I have little enough time for playing games as it is so I won’t play something I’m not enjoying.

I also find it depends on the genre, racing games I constantly dip in and out of over the months whereas story based games or shorter more focused ones I try to complete before moving onto the next.

Games that have multiple different mechanics are the hardest to go back and ty to pick up again. I got a decent chunk into Horizon Zero Dawn but I’ve not touched it in well over a year so I’ll be restarting that from the beginning once I get round to playing it again.

Yeah I have loads of games that I have never even started so I don't think I ever have the "problem" of being forced to go back to a partially completed one.

Focus on one game and don't get caught up in the need to have a new release day one. I only ever focus on one game at a time. Never have this problem.

You two have too many machines. :P I do have a couple of games I hope to go back to in a Switch dry period, the last one of which ended emphatically this year and left me with six or so ‘active’ unfinished games; but yes, I do worry that I’ll struggle to go back to them.

All the time. Sometimes it's due to forgetting the controls.
For example I've just gone back to GTA V some 4 years after my last trophy popped on it. I was doing a mission that needed me to switch between characters.

I couldn't figure it out at all and had to Google how to do it!

Like others have said, I too have a huge pile of unfinished games. I buy too much in the sales, and with the free PSPlus, XBL and EA access games too, I have too much. But I want to see the latest games as well.

I'm still working my way through Skyrim on the Switch (178hrs), yet to play my PS4 version at all. Have both recent Tomb Raiders, RDR2, CoD Blops 3 & 4, Witcher 3, Mad Max, Metro something, Mafia 3, Zelda BotW Gears 4 & 5, Assassin's Origins, TLOU, MGS 4 & 5, all sitting in a partially played state. Plus dozens of others.

Then theres the old 360 & PS3 games too :shifty:

So yeah, I struggle to get back into a game. It's my own fault

Still, PS5 out next year
