What's your Covid-19 job status?

I'm currently working as normal just from home. I always worked 2 or 3 days per week from home anyway.

WFH, but assisting on a different department since things have exploded in some parts of the business and nose dived in others.

I'm working from home. Most of my colleagues have been furloughed, but I was deemed 'essential core'. Thankfully not too busy at the moment, just keeping things ticking over.

My job status changed yesterday.
I was working more than normal but I decided to go into self-isolation with no pay as the conditions at work were unacceptable.
There's zero impact on my prospects at work and I can stay off for as long as I need and go back whenever I feel it's safe to do so. I'm lucky in that I have enough savings to make even a long period without pay no problem but I really was left with no choice.

Nope, they made it quite clear that the rule they have is you only get paid if you test positive for the virus and if you do as I did and take a precautionary measure because the people I live with are high risk they won't pay anything. I've mentioned furlough and they just say it doesn't apply to me.
So, I have a choice of go to work and risk the health of my parents because where I work I'm bumping into people constantly (keeping 6 feet apart is impossible) and even though at the start of all this they said they wouldn't take on any new staff that rule lasted exactly 2 days when they realised we couldn't fulfill all the orders and instead of asking customers to maybe expect things a little late they continued to demand that everything is next day delivery as normal and just bring in new people all the time with zero screening.

I just decided I'd had enough and said that I'm done and staying at home even without pay.

That is Alvin, although going by Peter's posts in the US Politics thread I am amused by the idea of him living there .

Sorry to hear about that - it's a stressful situation and I hope you're coping okay. Just seems like an especially cunty decision from your work because if they're going to let you stay at home with no pay anyway then they could just tick a box and let you stay home with 80% pay at no cost to them!

Being moved to a four day week with a 20% pay cut... it's like being furloughed, but with an extra four days of work!

From a business perspective it makes sense but I can't help feel like I'm missing out, even if I'm relatively lucky compared to others still!

None of whom are buying anything.

Need to get my ecommerce gooseberry fool in order and start doing the whole support local businesses from home thing. Unfortunately my body is saying 100% nope at the moment.

Harsh, I claimed JSA once, after 7 weeks of attending job centre interviews I was told my girlfriend's student loan at the time was enough for two people to privately rent and live on (in Surrey) and was therefore owed nothing

Same thing now as my business is still re-investing and covering overheads each year, so I don't make a profit, meaning I have no income to support my outgoings, meaning I am doomed to essentially fold within 6 months unless something changes.

If you're a limited company why dont you furlough yourself? Or are you sole trader?

I've been wfh for the last 5 weeks or so, but have had it confirmed today that my role is one of many being made redundant due to a drop in income and new clients.

Fortunately I'm in a position where I don't have to scramble to find new work asap and tbh it will be a bit of a relief to take some time off as I've found it almost impossible to concentrate due to worrying about everything else and I'd also recently been moved teams and hated my new role.

Might look at some non-tech related roles for now to keep some cash flow, but otherwise am going to spend time doing self-development and work on my own projects, at least until the job market hopefully picks up again in a few months.
