I can’t understand people who get angry over things other people don’t eat.

Who gives a strawberry float if somebody else doesn’t like mushrooms, cheese or whatever else?

Some of you are basically Piers Morgan ranting about vegans.

I’m assuming the latter? That’s my stance anyway. I don’t like (most of) the stuff I don’t like because I’ve tried it and it’s filth.

It's a bit annoying if you're having to cook something for both of you, or if you're ordering takeaway and can only ever get one thing because the person you're with doesn't like anything else.

Out of all the food I’ve tried I’ve only found 3 things I don’t like under any circumstances,

Marmite
Olives
Any blue cheese

Why would you not get two takeaways?

I’d agree there but that’s not really what people were talking about in this thread.

And as Balladeer said, just order 2 takeaways.

hmmm
I guess I might seem like a fussy eater to others?

I don't eat dairy cuz it makes me feel sick
Rarely eat red meat cuz it's not particularly healthy and also makes me feel sick (pretty much never eat beef and pork for cultural reasons)
I don't eat bread cuz it's just pure useless carbs
And I don't eat seafood with the exception of salmon, prawns and sometimes lobster, cuz most of that gooseberry fool is gross (also mercury)
I also feel gross if eat liver or kidney or offal in general so i avoid that gooseberry fool when it's not in stuffing

strawberry float people who have an aversion to vegetables tho

At least buy me a drink first.

Not a vegetable smoothie.

I'm pretty laid back about what ingredients go in my meals. There are foods I love and foods I'm not so fond of but I'd never really want to pick something out if it's part of a dish. I wouldn't enjoy eating a plate of carrots but I don't see why I'd want to pick the carrots out of a stew.

Wait so you'd like order a pizza while your partner orders a chinese? Seems sort of wack. They'll even arrive at different times.

I will eat anything but can't eat more than one ingredient at a time. Pie and chips and peas for instance - Peas first, chips next, lid off pie, eat lid, eat innards of pie, fold pastry and eat.

These wankers having a bit of everything in the same mouthful...

Two takeaway dishes I mean. They get their noodles, I get mine, and nobody has to suffer.

That's how you get delicious flavour combinations and textural contrasts. If that makes me a wanker, I don't want to not be a wanker.

People don't like certain things, and that's ok, but I think the real fussy eater is the one who just flat out refuses to try anything new. You see them picking a meal apart and pulling everything out bar the one ingredient they've had before so know they like.

I remember when a group of us went to a Mexican restaurant for a birthday meal, for something different to try, and most of us were loving the choice in the menu. A couple of my friends though looked absolutely terrified, like white as a sheet lookijg at that menu. I tried to explain what a burrito is, just another word for a wrap really but bigger. Shock. Sweats. The waiter arrives, we go around ordering and it ends with these two.

"......ummmmmmm. errrrrr :dread: Steak and chips please mate"

Next person.

".... :dread: ...... erm, errrrr... :dread: :dread: :dread: ....ummmm. I'll just have a cheeseburger and chips please mate"

Bolded the ones I agree with but there's a few in that list that I like but unfortunately can't eat any more due to chewing and swallowing issues.

I also dislike: sprouts, muesli, tarragon, Edam and Emental cheeses, peas and parsnips.

You do know that pie isn't just composed of 100% elemental pie and is actually a combination of lots of different ingredients.

My wife managed this for about a week and swiftly stopped. She loves a good paneer curry though and now that I know what they are, so do I.

To answer the thread question - absolutely not. Don’t like tomatoes, tofu or rice noodles. Or mushrooms. That’s about it.

Ironically despite my fussy status I have eaten both of these relatively happily. Can’t say I enjoyed snails, bit rubbery, but they were drowned in garlic butter. The frog’s legs on the other hand were in calvados cream sauce and were nice, just a pain to get the relatively small amount of meat off the bones.

I built a little pond in my garden, and within a year it was raucous with frogs, just like Paul McCartney's best song.

So, it's not just that I think they might taste slimy, or a cross between chicken and fish, it's that I can see the hoppy little blighters and I've become attached.

It's strange, because I'd happily club a baby lamb around the back of the head and then gobble the lot.

As for snails...these rubbery food felons are in the same category as jellyfish for me. Alright to try for a laugh, but who would eat these for pleasure?

Also, if you can eat snails, why don't people eat slugs? They're basically just snails without a hat. I suppose it might be hard to season them.
