My least favourite is definitely Solo, Phantom Menace/Attack of the Clones had their issues, but Solo just felt completely soulless and empty, even compared with those prequels.
If you're going to start another star wars thread. Starting it with that opinion is mind boggling.
I'm a sucker for movies that complete character arcs and I watched the Prequels first so Revenge of the Sith is my favourite. Glad to see ESB getting the love it deserves though. It's fundamentally the best movie in the saga, just not my "favourite".
How can you recognise that something is the best but not your favourite? Malfunction! Does not compute!
I prefer ANH to Empire as well. Which is a better crafted film and which did you enjoy more are different questions so they can have different answers. Hence why I can understand a lot of the criticism in the ROS thread but also just say that I enjoyed watching it on a personal level. I also get why people prefer Terminator 2 but I struggle to see how it's a better film than The Terminator apart from in SFX, because T1 had a more tense dynamic and T2 was in some ways a buddy movie.
Weirdly, I find A New Hope really strawberry floating dull. Probably not the best time to voice that opinion. Return of the Jedi is good, but the strawberry floating ewoks.
Hoo... I'm sure I've already said my favourite before, but in case you need a reminder...
The Phantom Menace - I loved Darth Maul and Qui-Gon Jinn as characters, the podracing is fun and fast, I can overlook what others call the boring politics that the film is centred on and see it for what it really is, and Jar Jar to me was never a problem.
Return of the Jedi and Empire Strikes Back take the next two spots, though in what order is difficult to decide on (though current order is the way you see them). The next section is a bit of a wild area in placement, not made any better by the addition of the new film. The Force Awakens just edges ahead of A New Hope, and for now I'll put Rise of Skywalker next in the order. The Last Jedi concludes that section.
Attack of the Clones is second to last, only because of a reason I have recently stated elsewhere. The novelisation of Revenge of the Sith puts the film to shame for me, making better use of the characters and story in a way that no other novelisation has been able to, making it harder to watch as a result.
