Our tree went up yesterday, I'll start wearing my santa hat next week.

As long as you get a decent real tree and don't do anything stupid like not watering it or putting right next to a radiator/fire then they should easily last from now until well into the new year.

Here's another arm to the question - do you decorate your whole house inside, or just the main room? Our front room is like Santa's grotto, but beyond some lights up the stair hand rail, there's nothing else put up.

Just the hall and living room for us, with a wreath made of bells on the front door. I may extend it to more rooms, I've bought too many christmas lights this year!

Said this to the wife the other day: I'd rather do one room well than spread what we have thinly over the whole apartment. So yes, our living room is like the inside of a kaleidoscope now.

We just do the main room in our flat. We're moving into a 4 bed house next year though so I imagine that'll change, my wife will go nuts in the January sale I reckon.

My Mum at the family home on the other hand....turns the whole house over with Christmas decorations. We have a "visible Santa" count every year where everyone guesses the number...last year's was 100+

Christmas tree went up on Saturday evening, box was just getting in the way so it made more sense to have it up rather than in the way. Rest will be going up over the next couple of days. We have far too many though.

I put mine up yesterday. And by 'put up' I mean take it out of its box and plug it in. I got it from John Lewis - none of that putting it together nonsense!

I bought a real mini one from Sainsbury's a few years ago and it lasted all of December and into January no problem.

Why not watch a Christmas film?

Must I forever repeat myself, Hexx?

It's the classic Christmas tale of unwanted guests (the terrorists), family tensions (John and Holly), a Christmas grinch (Hans), a Christmas fairy (Powell), the redemption of a fallen man (John), consumerism (that Asian terrorist risking his tactical awareness to grab a chocolate bar, Ellis bragging about Rolex).

It's got it all

Put it up yesterday with Muppets Christmas Carol on...

There's talk of further decoration, though risky given the dog and cats that roam our halls...

We've only got a wreath up for now, but I'm sure the rest will follow next weekend.

My neighbours across the road, who went pretty big for Halloween and only just got rid of their pumpkins, now have three massive inflatable characters on their lawn. They're going to be fun to live with.

On the plus side, at night it looks like the aftermath of a Christmas Mexican stand-off.

Yesterday the Elf on the left hadn't quite inflated properly and was doubled over. Looked like Santa had kicked it in the nuts.

We tend to focus the decorations in the lounge and kitchen as that's the areas we spend the most time in as a family (gotta keep the missus feeling festive when she's in the kitchen right, oi oi bantz!)

Since moving house we've now got a front garden with a tree in so I'm really tempted to extend the festive joy to the outside of the house and stick gooseberry fool loads of lights out there! :toot:

Hoping nobody in here does that Elf on the shelf bullshit? That can seriously get strawberry floating gone. :capnscotty:

It seems to take longer the older I get, but eventually got it up on Saturday after much effort from both me and the GF. Doesn't look too bad although it does lean at slight angle and needs trimming around the base. Not sure how stable it is, Keep having to tell the kids not to touch it.
