I feel like there were some big clues that something odd was going on that nobody every really thought was unusual like both Hexx and Sat being killed whilst AC which was because the parasites essentially committed suicide and went to infect someone else. Also the fact that the crew orders were sabotaged by Sat upon collection but only Drum ever actually brought that up in thread and it seemed to just be ignored.

I think it would have been possible to call us out more at times but the parasites were essentially using burner accounts so it didn't really matter if they made one account suspicious as they could just ditch it and move on during the next night. I also think having Sykes/Clark join us at the end probably tipped things slightly too far in our favor but I appreciate they were sort of just on the spot calls so it's always going to be tricky to balance things like that well once the game is in motion and Clark was sort of screwed over by Hype's death otherwise.

I got some super lucky breaks early on which set us up well. I was culted on day one, I was tracked by Mog early, seered by a Lieutenant on day one or two. So in these informal circles Id been seen to be all sorts of different things, but none threatening. Maybe its a testament to my bastardry that a few people needed to clear me early. I know Denster suspected me which made him a target, but we just werent sure if the brief pool dunk he had would actually protect him, which is why he survived so long. Taking Orange was important to us as he definitely would have solved it I think.

I kept to myself aside from formulating with my brother worms and I tried to steer the cult without actually ever detailing my role or the people involved. I dont know if my fellow cultists ever suspected.

Its amazing that Errkal was on Oranges account but we heard nothing. Did he speak to us?

Also, anyone know what the deal was with Hexxes sig being ‘false’? We actually spotted it and removed it and it came back.

Finally on the day we were doing the Hexx Mog Sat play we were quiet whilst we working working things out, but the real players were having this massive discussion with eachother in TCRT. We we surprised that didnt blow our cover.

So was the spy role able to manipulate and access accounts then? Were you just sat there watching us plan the Sat/Hexx play

Yeah I was able to get into Hexxs account for a bit then Oranges with the role of helping the wronguns from the shadows, the downside was I wasnt really sure what was going on and didn't have much time to read every pm to work it out.

So I kind of assumed everyone in your ring was working for good and that I would put random pointers in sigs and stuff as I wasn't really sure what to do and as I say didn't have time work it all out.

All in all not a great role for me to have haha

Yeah I could pick a person and I got their password, I could do what I wanted as then so if they had a role I could use it if I wanted, could post and send PM's etc.

Really didn't make the most of it really.

It wasn't until I found the link to the Google sheets page that showed who was a wrongun and a goodie I knew I had it wrong and needed to switch, so when orange died I was planning on swapping to Rik as the spreadsheet showed it was believed he had a power, then from there try and help you get the number to trigger the flares

So with the Cult ritual was that Clark 'giving up' as the reveal has ruined his role?

I felt that the punishment was harsh for the slip up. We argued amongst the worms that a god kill would have been fairer, and thats pretty severe. For us especially given Ironside had been approached and was now playing the hero, to have the cult revealed and the PM detailing that we needed Moggy, that was a brutal strike.

Totally demoralised us at the time.

I suppose the blessing is that Iron did the same AYA stuff where he dripped out "I might know something" rather than just blasting all the info out in one post. He created his own death with that one. In fact a few of the players had info, and if you'd have all been more up front instead of underground with it you could have had a much stronger game.

Sigma_Mario's "Just Googled it" moment was my personal funniest.

I know they just meant they googled what pi was for the circumference puzzle, but the sheer audacity of saying "just googled it" right after being told not to, that just tickled me.

The larvae worked by leaving their former host. The host would commit suicide and the larvae would exit and move to a new one.

I did notice that, and Lambda_Nun had a Crocodile Dundee avatar, which didn't fit his role of Little Bitch Who Runs From Mosquitoes at all.

This was a great game to follow. It was a really interesting mystery to chew over too, although I never figured it out until I got infected.

It was a great use of the mechanics of a forum too. You wouldn't be able to do this version of the game anywhere else. Very clever stuff.

Karl wrote:Why did you make the story so confusing?
From a narrative perspective, I limited the information and exposition given because I wanted the Humans to feel like bad things beyond their comprehension were happening to them. This is the core of Lovecraftian storytelling.

From a gameplay perspective, I was hoping it would lead to theory-crafting. (At one point I even outright stated this as an out-of-character hint in-game!) Unfortunately, much less theory-crafting happened than I expected, so I would say this is one of the respects in which the game failed to achieve its objectives. Ultimately I can't blame anyone for this but myself.

If I could do it differently, I would have probably given more hints and made them a little more obvious.

The lack of information made it fantastically compelling from a roleplaying perspective, it really worked in that respect.

But yes, the more I read about what happened the more I think it was impossible for the uninformed majority to actually win without sheer blind luck. We simply didn't have enough information, we didn't even know the rules. It was more like an interactive apocalypse story than an AYA? game!

Thinking about it, if the dead bodies turned up as Human or whatever, but filled with goo or something like that... Might have been clearer that there was something strange happening?

I think there was a big clue in the rules in the first page.

Part of the horror premise of this game relies on me being able to freely manipulate your forum account

That spells out simply that you won't always be in control of your account.

Whether that meant we had an unreliable gamemaster, or a role that took control of other's accounts, I didn't know for sure, but it was obvious there was a gameplay reason for not being allowed to use our main accounts. This was confimed in the first post of the General Chat thread.

I mean, I died on the first night so had it spelt out to me in the PM I got from Ariel, but still.

I think that's the only bit that wasn't quite clear enough. It never even occurred to me that accounts would be used by anyone other than the original user EDIT: I mean apart from Karl. I got from the descriptions that a wolf kill was a suicide, and this was probably significant, but wasn't able to make the mental leap all the way to figure out the implications of this. Perhaps if Webber lived we might have known more about this?
