Just reread Karl's breakdown the roles and imo the parasite role is far too overpowered

Parasite: As a night action, each Parasite may ask me to change hosts. To perform this action, name a player during the night phase. If successful, your current alt account dies and leaves the game, and you take over the named alt account. (This mechanism replaces 'wolf kills' in traditional AYA?.) When you take a different host, you gain any night abilities of that host.

I don't see how it's possible to deal with that as you can never get a hand on someone to work out if they're a wolf before they've moved on. It doesn't allow you to see who they might have spoken with/voted for and it gives them potential extra powers as well all in addition to the 'kill'.
It's an interesting dynamic but I feel it definitely needs tweaking and reducing in power were it to be used again

If I lived, I would have openly theorised about this in thread too.

I think if your spies were louder there would have been more of a concept of this spread around.

Oh and here was our evil planning sheet. Super useful.

I know I had no hand in this, but I'm a little bit proud I got Fudge killed with my account. Bit of a poisoned chalice, as it were.

That spells out simply that you won't always be in control of your account.

Whether that meant we had an unreliable gamemaster, or a role that took control of other's accounts, I didn't know for sure, but it was obvious there was a gameplay reason for not being allowed to use our main accounts. This was confimed in the first post of the General Chat thread.

I mean, I died on the first night so had it spelt out to me in the PM I got from Ariel, but still.

Yeah, I think we (humans) all thought it was just Karl taking occasional control of our accounts which is why I thought my punishment was overly harsh. We had no idea that the wolves were just moving through us

As some of you know, my real life job is working as a recruiter, so being Head of the Cult seemed perfect.

My attempted recruits in order were False (success), Hype (success), Drum (being patrolled), Iron (rejected).

I went to False first because he had mentioned he was going on holiday, and I spun it as providing someone to cover his back in the thread. Also, he shot someone in the thread on a task, and I based my recruitment messages around 'causing chaos' rather than working for the parasites.

I never disclosed our win conditions prior to someone accepting entrance into the Cult and I wrote a tailored message that was different each time, prior to Ariel's formal recruitment yes/no PM.

Our goal with the Cult was not to continue recruiting indefinitely - the optimal number would have been 5-6 members + contact with the parasites. This would have allowed us to sway essentially all votes.

When Falsey disclosed on Day 3 that he was in direct contact with the parasites, I figured he could be a parasite for the first time, but not that he could be the Alpha :slol:

Iron's rejection in combination with Hypes punishment resulting in Ariel's proposal to me about the ritual, which I really needed to accept in order to remain in the game.

From there, I tried to catch up quickly on the parasite gameplan, and essentially followed orders which made the end-game run very smoothly for us!

This was also not the first mafia game I played with a ventriloquist role, so it might just come from experience.

Could they take over and use the night action on the same night - or have I misunderstood

Taking over a new account means discarding the old one, which was the night action. Except in Orange's parasite (Cribs) case, staying in the same body too long.

So were you alive or dead as the post seems to indicate you were very much dead
2. Lambda_Clark drags Delta_Hype off towards the mountains. They are both found dead. Hype was stabbed through the heart in some kind of ritual, and (as we all know...) was a HUMAN CULTIST. Clark has torn out his own throat, and was a HUMAN CULT LEADER.

I meant the power of the one they took over - I never looked at Zellery but they seem to have

Mini E, you kinda screwed me a bit by knowing I was innocent yet giving me no information to do anything with.

I don't think I was taken over until after the night actions were all done. That's the best answer I can give from my perspective, though.

I was dead. I was transformed into a parasite and then took on a new host that evening.

No we could either use a roles power or move on and kill the host at night and we lost any powers our previous host had when we moved on to the new one.

The whole Zellery incident was mainly us bullshitting from the off to try and get information out of Orange. You never targeted Zellery just heard about their role name from me/Sat had you actually targeted Zellery we wouldn't have gotten it so wrong.

I had very little interaction regarding PMs - even when turning cold-blooded - and so never got close to getting fully into the game, but having read the write-up the premise of it is brilliant. Really like the whole taking over the accounts thing.

I do however think the Parasites had way too much power over the rest of us. The story was deliberately mysterious and confusing which is it how it should be in this iteration, but this led to more important information being known by the bad guys and so the good guys were always playing catch-up. Basically, I think if this was ran again with everyone being aware of the premise it would probably be more balanced.

Big thanks to Karl to running it obviously. Really clever game which led to some great plays and cool moments.

I still can’t believe I posted “just Googled it” after being told not to. Having offered a (correct!) solution to the puzzle I simultaneously felt like a genius and an absolute moron.

I think the best way of describing it is that Clarkman was a parasite but Lambda_Clark was not. So though Lambda_Clark died, Clarkman could still infect and take over another player's alt account to continue playing.

Edit: The same thing happened to Sykes as well thinking about it. His in game account died but he became a parasite.

Its worth noting, before we lampoon Karl too much - there were opportunities to reveal the premise of the game that were strawberry floated up.

We steered as much as we could away from anything that threatened us, but also you guys just plain messed up or missed gameplay opportunities.

As well as this they also had hints about events which further overpowered them and a cult helping them.
There was so much info that humans didn't have that I don't think it was possible to win.
Info may have potentially been revealed if events had gone our way but the odds were against that happening
In the event where I shot the guy who may have given us info, not knowing if he was good or bad, we had a fake Minoru and Kez with me who would have shot him regardless, knowing that was the route they needed to take

As a ‘game’ it was pretty terrible - but as an experience it was highly entertaining, and made good use of the forum features/setting. Lot of work from Karl as well - even from sickbed
