I'm a donor so they can have anything bar my corneas (I feel weird about that).

After that, funeral pyre. Burn like the heathen kings of yore.

So many people I know say the same thing and I just don't get it.

You're dead, you're not coming back so what do you need your eyes for? Your eyes won't work without your brain and they're taking that.

I just think of some little girl that needs an eye transplant and you're denying her that because you feel a bit weird about it.

Take it all, I say.

I want to be hung up above the kitchen table of one of my descendants so I can slowly decompose, stink out the house and give the (hopefully great-great-)grandchildren nightmares.

Oh, I understand how irrational it is. Having the rest of my body parts taken doesn't faze me but the thought of someone mucking around with my eyes makes me uncomfortable. I have no idea why. It's not like it will matter at that point as well, and the extraction process is probably similar to removing organs. It's unsettling for me.

Again, I understand how silly that is to some people.

I want to be cryogenically frozen and awoken when they can revive me. Or is that cheating :shifty:

If the tech isn't advanced enough to be a guaranteed success at that point I'll still try it. I'm dead either way so there's no real downsides to the risk.

Right now if given the ability I want to be able to live forever. I want to see what and if humanity achieves anything in the next thousand, ten thousand or one hundered thousand years. I want to see if everything we know of science now is either bent, abused or broken to achieve things we never believed to be possible. I want to look at a world where what we've achieved this previous century is ancient history. Is there something weird about that?

Maybe I'm just scared of death as I know once your brain ceases to function that's it. Your conciousness dissapears with it. This beautiful thing we call life is over and there's nothing. Maybe some day there'll be the ability to have your conciousness converted into a machine or maybe one day we'll find a way to evolve past the need of a physical body. I want to be kept alive long enough to find out.

I want my body to be propped up with a pulley system at my funeral so puppeteers can make me play air guitar to Freebird as everyone leaves

Think about it logically. You are going to die, so something is going to be fundementally wrong with your organic body, then you want to be revived?

Do you want to 'come back' having experienced what could potentially be an agonising death? What if you come back and the neurons and synapses of your brain have suffered irreprable damage? You wont even be the same person. What if the earth of the future is so far advanced that you suffer horrible culture shock? What if you die an old man, and are revived into a world where there are no more 'old men'?

What would you have to offer an advanced society of the future?

I think you would be much better enjoying the brief glimpse of life in the present, rather than hoping for some eternal experience. Live for the now, son - because its the only now you have.

I don't think anything could improve those.
