I store mine in the toilet, next to these chocolate logs people keep leaving for me to eat.

I live on my own and don’t go through a loaf quickly enough to just store it in a cupboard without it going mouldy and throwing half of it away so I keep it in the freezer and just take slices out as I need them.

Can you set up a webcam so we can watch your soft floppy white slices slowly harden?

Clearly his body wasn't used to processing bread that wasn't chilled and half-stale. We may have heard the last from him...

RIP in peace Ad7.

Don't worry, I'm alright.

Moved the bread to the fridge this evening. Had to then hastily take it back out (context thread) to make in to sandwiches as the 'fresh' wraps id bought from one stop were all completely stuck together and tore to pieces so they all had to be binned.

The real question is will the bread be mouldy tomorrow and if not, just how dry will they be? (It's two crusts and two bits of normal bread left).

Bread bin, sealed. Have to go for smaller loaves though coz it's too humid here to get through a full one before it goes off.

And like strawberry float am I gonna ruin it in the fridge.

Tried the freezer. It really does come out like cardboard. Awful.

 It won't be the least bit mouldy, not unless it was already on the turn when it was put in. If you toast your bread then you won't be able to tell the difference, if you have it un-toasted then it won't be as soft but will still be edible. If that's a huge deal for you, then just remove it from the fridge a while before eating.

 What the strawberry float kind of fridges/bread do you people have?!

What kinds of bread are we talking about? My day-to-day bread is a Kingsmill med slice wholemeal. We also have thick cut white in the fridge as well. (As I said previously, only bread I don't put in the fridge is the fresh made stuff.)

How did you defrost it

Did you use it for toast

I tried it two ways, leaving it out at room temperature, and in the fridge for a bit. I never tried the oven method.

Warm oven, sprinkle a bit of water on it before putting it in.

Lovely jubbly.

Buy bread
Put in freezer
Defrost
Put in oven with water sprinkled on

Just eat the damn bread once you have bought it and save a lot of strawberry floating about.

But strawberry floating about is the fun part of cooking as a millennial!

To be fair I only really advocate this method with a nice fresh baked loaf of bread that you want to get a bit more life out of. It's pretty pointless to treat your Tesco Value sliced white loaf to this treatment.
