That's ridiculous, surely? I'm no legal buff but that not allowed is it? Sacking someone who is off for a week with stress seems a little unfair... I mean there's a guy here who was off four four months and there wasn't ever talk of him losing his job! He even came back for a week and then took another month off!

I wouldn't worry about it yet, to be honest. The boss will surely talk to someone and realise that he can't do that. If he doesn't, get back to me and I'll pass you onto my fiancee who knows about this gooseberry fool.

Although they're going to disciple/possibly fire her because she needs to take a week off? Holy Christ. Not well known on legal stuff, but that doesn't sound legal at all.

Have you heard of MDMA? It's the chemical in Ecstasy that makes you high. When taken in a relaxing environment it strips down your ego and inhibitions and facilitates the kind of significant conversation that allows you to talk about personal issues without worry that the person you're talking to will judge. Because they won't. I've taken it twice with friends and it has changed my perception of life.

I know this comment will just be dismissed, but MDMA has actually been used in couples therapy for the exact reason of bearing each others souls without the strawberry floating ego getting in the way.

If she gets sacked (which is unlikely, I might add), then you have a definite claim for unfair dismissal right there. Tell Mrs. Suzzopher not to worry too much about it, but to go in and confidently make her case as best she can. I know it will be difficult for her to do that, but tell her to make sure she gives them a copy of her sick note from the doctor. I think the doctor would also be willing to talk to her boss if needed.

Just reading your posts Suzz, wow you both have been through so much in the past couple of days. Wishing you both all the best mate. Like others have said there as long as the work know the situation there is nothing they can do. Why they are being bastards, I don't know but if they g ahead with it sue them for every last penny 8-)

Edit - One thing to think about Chris, is that if your wife does get sacked, then the guy must be an utter banana split who wouldn't be worth working for.
