:? I never mistook it for a Transformer.

I bet this is some joke relating to the chat thread and so is over my head.

edit: Soundwave?! Yellow eyes? Whaaaaaat.

g1 Boxart does not lie, except where it's completely wrong.

Well even the above image ( :slol: and wtf is that link?!) isn't all that conclusive. But the one below is.

My god. It's like I'm a child again and I've just learned Lassie is a girl, and for some reason hate the fact I can't see all of Jamie's (from Jamie and his Magic Torch) shoes and so have gone right off them both. Thanks a lot.

This thread is the strawberry floating worst.

edit: Oh god! I now no longer have a favourite Transformer. Starscream was my next favourite but you can't trust that conniving SOB.

You've never seen the original Ratchet and Ironhide toys?

...No.

I like the dinkiness of them, but the robot design looks a bit naff.

That was genuinely terrifying and hilarious at the same time.

I knew it wasn't a Transformer but didn't know it was a DBZ character.

Also, Soundwave, like every Decepticon (with the possible exception of Shockwave) has red eyes, not yellow.

Edit: Yep, Shockwave has a single yellow eye.

Here's one to drive you berserk:

Does Devastator have a visor, or eyes?

It varies, some depictions have eyes, others have a visor.

Even the G1 version had various different face designs.

This thread is going to end up costing me upward of £150   Unless someone can find me a Soundwave which looks like the Masterpiece model but isn't as detailed/large/pricey.

Best one for less large, detailed & pricey is probably the G1 reissues, if you can find them. Failing that, the Sound Label version is pretty neat, too. Spark Blue version is the traditional colour scheme, Black is a bit more "Soundblaster"y. The hands are on ball joints so you swap them with an extra pair or two for pressing his own eject button.

Add me to those that thought it was a transformer.

Also I had a Soundwave toy, and I swear it had red eyes, I am sure it is still at my folks, I shall investigate this weekend

If it turns out Ironhide's avatar also isn't a transformer I might murder someone.

Hasbro bought Tonka a million years back, Hasbro own the characters. Bandai owns the actual original Gobots toy designs, though. Hasbro has used the name a couple of times, and even produced a set of G1 minibots repaints as Go Bot characters.
