Which is the best Pikmin game?

Just want to know what the good people of GR think.
I have played 1 & 2 and I much preferred the latter.

I own the first two but have only played (and subsequently completed) the original. The sequel is nestled on my shelf waiting for me to play it.
Chap I bought them off says 2 is by far the better game.

Yeah 3 all the way, the multiple character switching does wonders to strengthen the depth of the mechanics and level design, it's such a satisfying game to make progress in

3 is the best, I think it's probably one of the best games on the Wii U and it's a shame it never got the audience it deserved. They're all great games though.

I've only played the first one and could never get past a certain bit about 1/3 through the game.
I don't think it helped that I bought it alongside Mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness, Rogue Squadron II and Luigi's Mansion - that's the most full priced games I've ever bought simultaneously (Steam sales are a different matter entirely of course).

I haven't played 2 and only the demo of 3, but there's a special place in my heart for how wonderful it was to have the first totally original game on Gamecube a few weeks after launch.

It just didnt click with me at the time, I wasnt a big fan of the Pikmin they added and it just felt like it was missing something. Now that I think of it I should probably revisit it and give it possibly give it more of a chance than I gave it the first time.
